Look of the Day: Captain Glass House

"People Who Live In Glass Houses Should Not Throw Stones"
Captain Glasshouse here.., ready for duty. Yup that's me! Captain Glasshouse is my (recent) nickname {I am the queen of nicknames} my husband gave me. How could I earn such a nickname, you ask? I know right? I am so sweet! Ha!
Well it's when I say things like: Hey Casey, you play Softball too much! Hey Amber, you spend too much time taking pictures of yourself and then writing about it. Okay point taken.
And Casey, why is the house so messy?Amber, you haven't done ANYTHING around the house besides mess it up. That is true, but I was busy this{every}week.
But Casey where is my insert: Keys Wallet, phone, camera, laptop charger, remote control. Ohh Amber, where is any control?
CASE-eeeeeeee! Help! I haven't had internet all day and I can't find my charger... HELP! YIKES!
Okay I guess I need to pick up my slack--I mean put down my stones!
My mirror outfit picture because even Casey (my personal Jack of all trades) couldn't fix my tripod.
If I'm a captain, I need hat right?? Ahoy Maties!
And a throw back desk shot, because I miss them and I love this look!
Oh Tripod, how I miss you!Clearly I am in need of a weekend. See what I do on Thursdays when Project Runway isn't on? Oy Vey!

Look of the Day: Stuck in the 90's

143 is what we say when we're texting...You mean paging! Omg anyone else remember the {good} old days of pagers!? Wow, we were just begging for text messaging, weren't we? Forgive me if you were too young to have deal with pagers. Well, these days of having banned internet and really bad At&t phone service at work have me feeling reminiscent of the old days of relying on pager codes and an internet consisting of AOL chat rooms (uumm creepy).
Ohh and with the lack of technology, I am also lacking my trusty tripod, she broke, lame. So you have just mirror pictures until I replace her.

I am wearing an old Elizabeth and James blazer (Similar E&J and similar for less), Jbrand Doll Jeans, skinny Forever 21 belt (similar F21 here) and and a Nordstrom BP button up.
My inspiration from the Vogue May 2010 issue. 823!

Things I Love: Free People

I still remember the first time my Mom took me to shop in the Macy's Junior Depart mart. This was back in the nineties and I was in 6th grade. It was kind of a big deal. I even remember what we bought that day, my first Free People top. It was a brown, blue, green and I think orange striped crew cut, long sleeved thermal. And oh how I loved that thing, I need to find a picture me wearing it. There are few brands I can remember the first piece I ever owned from them, but I will never forget that first Free People top, it had me hooked on the brand ever since.
Here are some images that I am just loving from their recent catalog.

I will be wearing lots and lots of Free People this summer, I can't wait!
And in other news... my tripod broke so I may be low on Look of the Days this week until I can get a new one.

Things I love: Spring Cleaning + (The Giveaway Winner)

I have cleaning out my closet for spring and tyring to get my closet/craft girly room/look of the day setting organized. One thing I have always had trouble organzing is my jelwery and accessories. I think I found a way for now to store some of it.
My cocktail rings are ready to throw on and are sitting pretty in this container:
I started hanging my chunkier chain necklaces on the inside of my closet, I need to get hooks but my larger necklaces.
And I found this cool vintage Heinz ketchup container on etsy to keep other grab and go pieces.
I call it my 57 ways to accessorize container.
And now for some blog spring cleaning..thank you so much to the White Dress Shop for sponsoring such a generous giveaway! It was very much appreciated!
The giveaway winner is IZZY! Make sure to spot by her super cute blog =)Izzy shoot me an email so I can contact the Whitedresshop on your behalf! YAY!

Look of the day: Bust a Move

Sunday's are my favorite days to just chill and relax, this past Sunday I did my (new) regular routine. I hit up Target to check out their new Go Line of the week, and then I headed over to Trader Joe's to stock up for the week. Unfortunately the Zac Posen line was a bust for me, surprisingly, since I have been on a roll with the Target lines. Then I headed to my Moms for a bit and later I rode my bike down to park to hang out with my friend and her puppy. It was a great way to spend time in the amazing weather.
I rocked an old Torn Tank (a Copy Cat Lauren Conrad Purchase) and my Gap Patch & Repair Jean cutoffs (I highly recommend these shorts) and my Ash Lotus wedges.

I started out like this, but I got a little more casual as the day went on...Backyard time, my favorite time.
Park time with Buster Brown, isn't he a cutie? It was the perfect day to bust out this. It's only Monday but I am already counting down the days until next weekend.
I'll be back later with the Giveaway winner!

Look of the Day: French Fried

So my plan of catching up on blog reading and blog updating didn't exactly go as planned. A friend needed to talk which ended up taking up a good amount of time. In any case this Joie French Postcard dress is definitely going to be one of my favorites for the summer. I always know a item of clothing is a hit when I have girls coming up to me asking where I got it, which is exactly what happened when we strolled through a local Art festival Saturday. I see this Joie piece as a versatile top/dress that I plan on wearing many ways and the print on it is just too cute!

I didn't sleep too well last night, not a great way to start the week off. I'm hoping I can pull it together and catch up on sleep and blog stuff today.
Oh and one last time don't forget to check out my current giveaway, it ends tonight!

Look of the Day: If You Steal My Sunshine

(Amber + Sunshine) x The Weekend=Little to No Internet Time. Looks like I will be spending my Sunday night catching up on blog reading, commenting and writing. As for my weekend lets' start from the very beginning, a very good place to start. Friday night we went out with some friends for dinner and then watched the baseball game together. I rocked my new JBrand Jeggings, Splendid top and Cynthia Vincent for Target wedges. One of my favorite outfits to wear is a loose tee, skinny jeans and wedges. It's nothing special but for some reason I always love the look of it and this outfit was no exception.

I had a hard time taking a good picture of the top so this will have to do. It looked much better when I was standing normal.
Oh and did you join twitter then enter my giveaway with the WhitdressShop yet?? Well what are you waiting for? There's a Rachel Pally skirt on the line here =) Alright I am off to upload more pictures and catch up on blog reading! I'll be back.

Style Icon: Thank You, Thank You Very Much

I am a huge Elvis fan, if you ever go karaoking with me you better watch out, because I will be belting out some (very out of tune) Elvis. Not only is his music some of my favorite but he was handsome and stylish as well, and one of my all time favorites.

And Johnny And I rocking some Elvis karaoke in Beijing last year. We are serious about Elvis for sure. I'm sure Casey was hiding in shame during this rock out session.
I also wanted to say thank you to all my readers, new and old. Your comments and support is amazing, you all make me smile everyday. And for that, I thank you...very much. I only hope things like hosting giveaways, let you all know how much that means to me!

Look of the Day: Oh the Hills are Alive with The Sound of Griswold

No other Movie quote has combined with Casey and I quite so well. I was a Sound of Music(al) Freak and he was just a regular 90's kid. Together we equal Glee. In any case we (FINALLY) booked our Europe trip!! We are flying into Frankfurt and out of Venice, with some random travels and some serious Prague time clocked in along the way, I can't wait!
After my days of feeling vexed by the weather, it forced me into a desperate (or was that rational) situation? I went shopping and wow, that felt good. I had been hanging onto gift cards since Christmas and today, I finally cashed some of those in. I felt like Cher in Clueless trying to clear her head and I sure am feeling a fresh start now. I even broke out my Cynthia Vincent for Target wedges and my White Dress Shop tank. You know, in Honor of my Giveaway!
Feeling the weather turn.
My Goods. Let me just say, everyone needs some J Brand Jeggings. The Joie French Postcard dress will be seen often as well.
I tried to get a picture of them all, but Pennie Lane was not agreeing (at least Nicole gets a Pennie Pic for Boots!)
umm OMG YAY for Friday!!

Flower of the Week: Inspired Combo

This week when I was standing in line at Trader Joe's the women in line ahead of me turned aroudn and asked where I got the white hydrangeas I had in my cart, so pointed her in their direction. When she returned she showed me how she planned to pair them with some lilacs, the combination was just lovely. Naturally, I asked her where the lilacs were, and went to check them out, when I saw the $9 price tag I was reminded that I have my own Lilac tree with blooms on it that I could use instead. Unfortunatly most of my lilac blooms were gone, but I plan to remember this lovely combination for next year. Hopefully I run into that women in the future, so she can inspire me again.
The white and liliac combonation is so pretty and the fragrance is amazing.
The vase is from one of the table arrangements at my wedding.
And some irises from my yard.
What are your flowers for the week? Post link for me if you took pictures.

Look of the Day:I Need Some Help, Some Inspiration (But it's Not Coming Easily)

I was Holden Caulfield depressed about the weather today. The freaking weather roller coaster has been getting to me. I am more then ready for spring, yet Mother Nature disagrees and likes to throw corkscrews at us. Sun, rain, no wait sun, no it's rain actually. Well the lack of outfit inspiration shows, but instead of wallowing in it for the rest of the week, I decided to flip through my newest Vogue to find some inspiration. I only wished I had done that before I got dressed, because the Americans in Paris shoot had me flipping out! I hope I can try to recreate one of the looks tomorrow. I just loved the chic outfits, I think I found my inspiration, even in the rainy weather.

Let's just say I was this close to just posting this:
Looking for some inspiration.
Found it!
Let's hope tomorrow looks less drab than this
And more Spring like this
