Look of the Day: Na Na Na Na Na....Way Cool!

I think it was Pablo Picasso that said it best "Ah, good taste! What a dreadful thing! Taste is the enemy of creativeness."
So here's the 411: Sometimes I wish it was still 1992. And that I had a ladder going up to my bedroom window so that my best friend Sam could use it to climb up into my room. My only concerns would be when I getting my driver's license, trying to convince my mom to let me wear what I want in school pictures and protesting against animal testing.
I may not be Clarissa Darling, but I sure loved Clarissa Explains it All. She made me wish I could have the guts to wear the crazy creative outfits she did. She was definitely ahead of her time. I mean when her Mom banned TV from her house she rigged her computer so she could watch TV on it.
Come on, Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim, fess up! Which one of you YouTube founders was the Clarissa Fan? I'd also bet that she would most definitely put her photography and styling skills to work and be a blogger. She'd also spend her time hocking vintage finds on eBay to pay for her dream car and listening to music on Pandora.
Maybe it was the high socks or the Chuck Taylor Convers but the outfit sure made me feel as if I were channeling Clarissa.
My room just isn't decorated nearly as cool as hers.
Big earrings would have really topped this look off and made it much more Clarissa.
And one of Clarissa's crazy outfits, broken down Kendi Everyday style.
Gosh I miss those good old days of SNick!
Where's a Big Orange Couch when you need one?

Things I love: Playing the Part

On Saturday my best friend Jen's sister, Ashley, got married. And I was honored to be asked by Jen to photograph the events leading up to wedding, before the real photographer arrived. It was so fun to be there and support my best friend on a very exciting day and put my camera to work! Here are a few of my favorite shot's of the day.
My absolute favorite, Jen getting her hair done.

And because of my seat, I couldn't help but snap these arrival and departure pictures during the ceremony.
Once the wedding festivities kicked off I put away the camera and put on my dancing shoes.
But it sure was fun to play photographer for a bit!

Things I Love: Amber's Notebook Love

I just wanted to say thank you to CurryUpNow and EveryCollegeGirl.com for their Ambersnotebook.com shout outs. I work really hard on my blog (you know, for not reaping any reward except love from ya'll) so it is so nice to have businesses and websites that I love and respect give my blog a shout out. Thank you both so much!

EveryCollegeGirl.com gave my Breakfast at Tiffany's party a shout out in their Best of the blog World weekly round up.
And the CurryUpNow food truck gave my Eat Real Festival post a shout out on their Facebook and Twitter pages. Thank you all so much. Your food rocks!

Thank you ladies for letting me boast.
But I thank you more for always reading and commenting, it means the world to me!

Look of the Day: What Amber Wore

Thanks again for all your help deciding on what dress I should wear to the wedding this past weekend! My dress was a hit! I got lots of compliments on it and it was the perfect thing to wear to the wedding. I just love when I get to go to event where I can dress up for!
I was playing photographer until the real photog got there, so I got ready at the hotel but here are a few shots of me in my dress. So glad I finally got to wear her out!
Annie and I.
My best friend Johnny and I.
Between her Maid of Honor duties, Jen somehow managed to do both Annie's and my hair!
And of course a classic in the mirror shot ;)
Thanks again for your advice ladies!!

Things I love: Eating Real Food

On Friday my friend Vanessa and I hit up the Eat Real festival in Oakland. The festival is focused on real, quality food. The festival's slogan is Putting the Food back into Fast. With food trucks an street food being all the rage these days Eat Real focuses on food that is cheap, healthy, quality and fast.
Vanessa and I had a fabulous time sipping and nibbling our way through the festival. We also had a wonderful time chatting with the festival volunteers and the owners and chefs of the featured businesses. Everyone was genuinely excited about food and was so friendly.
Mason jars served as glasses.
And of course real drinks to fill up the mason jars.
There were classes, demonstrations and live music.
There was lots of yummy wine, we sampled several of them. I loved the Philo Ridge Pinot Gris. I would have drank it but it was way too early for red wine.

Slider and Corn and Pimento cheese and sausage from Jim and Nicks. SO good!
Jim and Nicks is located in Alabama, Georgia, Colorado, Florida, Tennessee and North & South Caroline. I would highly recommend checking them out.
The best pimento cheese I have ever had! YUM!
Can't touch this.
Loving it!
Polenta Pizza from Pizza Politana.
Quite possibly the best pizza I ever ate....and I was in Italy this summer!

Miss Carson, an eight year fashionista who had the most amazing necklace I have ever seen.
It was like a dollhouse on a necklace, it featured miniature cooking utensils.
She told me she got it in Mexico, but man, I wish I would love to wear this to a festival.
Creme freaking brulee. In a mason jar, none-the-less. These sold out, and it's no surprise because they were amazing! If ever in San Francisco, the Eat Cream Heat Creme Brulee should not be missed.

Let's Be Frank 100% Grass fed hot dogs.
Tikka Masala burrito From Curry Up Now, genius!
I just love food festivals, especially ones that focus on being green, local an healthy! It doesn't get any better then that!

Look of the Day: It's A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

I learned a lot of things from Mr. Rodgers, like that I should like myself for just being just the way I am. And how crayons were made. But I think the thing that stuck with me most was his cardigan and sneakers routine when he walked in the door. Even though my cardigans aren't hand-knit by my Mom like his were, I still can't help but feel a little Mr. Rodgers when I rock a cardigan. And this mustard colored one makes me feel especially neighborly.

Now if only I could figure out how to rig a miniature Charlie trolley to drive past me...
Rodarte for Target Cardigan (another great mustard cardigan), Tory Burch Clutch, Ella Moss Tank, JBrand Jeggings, Cynthia Vincent For Target Wedges.
Totally Copy Cat Style.Thank you Mr. Rogers for all the lessons you taught me!

WSAW: And the Other One is Giving the Peace Sign (Or a High Fiving, Or Playing the Piano)

Thank you all for the feedback! Jen was happy you all choose the dress she liked best and questioned why I would ever second guess her opinion, sorry Jazz! I mean I'll be a lil' honey bee at the wedding and a girl in short pants skirt, so it'll be fun!
And I am happy ya'll choose the only dress that had pockets. Sweet! Now I have somewhere to stash my iPhone, when I'm kinda busy. Ka-ka-ka kinda busy...
Just a second it's my favorite song they're gonna play...
(it must be Eminem)
And I can not text you with a drink in my hand, eh?
Cue Beyonce...
Alanis disclosed the one hand in the pocket situation, correct?
I know, it's so ironic that when I want to dance the phone rings.
'cause this is a disaster!
Thanks again ladies! And happy Friday!
What are your weekend plans?
