Look of the Day: Mustard Seed

Yesterday, I kept my dress streak going for the fourth day in a row. Can you believe I never busted out any of these dresses all summer? Poor little things were hung up just waiting to come out and play.
Yesterday's outfit came together after I had the urge to wear something in yellow. So I started with my Rodarte for Target cardigan and paired it with my We the Free studded dress, the sandals were a natural choice and are another Target purchase, so they matched perfectly.
I am loving mustard colored pieces right now!

Things I love: Fall Harvest

One thing I love about Autumn is the produce that is in season. Squashes, heirloom tomatoes and pears fill the farmers markets stands. Not only are they incredibly tasty but they are so pretty. Pretty enough that I use them as centerpieces and arrange them in fun bowls for displays in my kitchen. I can't wait to go to the Farmers Market this Saturday to pick up some squashes. I love using pumpkins, squashes to add some fall ambiance inside.
I just love heirloom tomatoes, they make anything you add them to pretty.

The pears from the farmers market are out of this world, and serve as a pretty centerpiece.

All the fall produce has been inspiring my to open up my cook books and utilize the harvest to it's fullest.

Remember to eat local {and in season} when possible!

Look of the Day: Buy Me Some Peanuts and Cracker Jack,

Yesterday was a big day, Britney was on Glee and the Giants beat the Diamondbacks. And why thank you Padres for losing, that was a nice cherry on top. Just a warning: I'm going to be going baseball crazy this week, I apologize in advance.
Once again the temperature was scorching so I keep my three day dress streak going and rocked this little Anthropologie number who went unworn all summer. I think it was from last summer, I just remember purchasing it on sale because I liked the sheer top with polka dot details, and of course pockets in dresses are always a good thing.
I even felt a bit like I was channeling Audrey, so I threw on my big sunglasses and a bun.

Things I love: Septemeber Squash

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook you may have seen that I was making Martha Stewart's twice baked squash for dinner. It was a really fun dish to make and plate but the flavor wasn't my favorite. I followed Martha's recipe and found it a bit plain so I added some roasted garlic. I would like to play around with the flavors a it more but I think this could a really wonderful Thanksgiving side. The presentation would perfect for impressing family.
<span class=
After baking the first time, I used a melon baller to scoop out the insides.

It looked very impressive.
<span class=
The consistency was almost like a savory pie.
<span class=
Casey said it reminded him of the soup, he seemed to like it.
<span class=
I am looking forward to having leftovers today and re-evaluating the flavors.

Look of the Day: 98 Degrees

Yesterday my Facebook and Google reader were bombarded by complains of California's scorching heat. I, for one, was not complaining. It may be hot but I feel like I finally have a chance to wear all my unworn summer dresses. This summer I pretty much lived in Jeggings because hot days were few and far between.
I also remember last fall starting out this warm as well, one reason I have put off purchasing boots and sweaters. I learned that lesson after watching many of my "fall" purchase plummet in price before I wore them last year. The seasons just aren't what they used to be to me it seems as if Fall is the new Summer, and Spring is the new Winter.
Since the temperature was over 100 degrees, I think it was perfectly acceptable to break the old never wear white after Labor Day rule.

Yay for sandals, dresses and enjoying the weather while it's here.

Flowers of the Week: Dahling, be a doll.

I am just loving the flowers from my Farmers Market. This week these gorgeous Dahlia's spoke to me and I knew I had to purchase them. Their color is much deeper in person and I just love all the dimensions in the blooms. This bouquet is more organic and natural then arranged, but I think it suits the Dahlia's impressive blooms. They were the perfect touch to my girly room.

Look of the day: Last Call

I know summer already officially ended but this weekend really felt like the last call for summer fun. And with the weather near the 100's I took the opportunity to rock a summer dress for one last time.

This summer never wore this One Teaspoon dress from my Jessica Simpson era. So I used it as an opportunity to bust it out, and I'm so happy I did. It's such a fun dress to wear, and it's very flattering. I had to track this thing down after many nights of stalking eBay so it felt very satisfying to wear it several years later and still receive compliments on it.

Things I Love: Re- to-the-Na

Happy Birthday to Rena. I am so lucky and blessed to have a fabulous Step Mom who is cool enough to do things like come over to my house on Christmas morning -- so things like that didn't have to be split up between parents. Divorces happen, and people re-marry and I am so lucky that my father re-married a women who was cool enough deal with me and my family. I love you Rena!! Hope you had a blast in Napa!!

Look of the Day: B-A-N-A-N-A-S

That was the song I played on my way home today. It seemed to be the perfect song to rock out to after my news earlier of winning the Rachel Zoe Styeite Style Sheets Guerlian Giveaway. And not to mention, Gwen Stefani also happens to be another one of my Style Icons and my top today reminded me of this outfit of hers.

I've mentioned before that I love this top, and for a casual and low-key Friday it was an easy thing to pull out of my closet. I just threw on a statement necklace and bracelet for some flair.

Things I love: Rachel Zoe

I've already Facebooked and Tweeted (a handful of times) about this, so thank you to those who congratulated me but this was just too big for me not to share! Ya'll know I love Rachel Zoe, so when I opened up Facebook today and found out that I won the Styleite's Style Sheet's Guerlain Giveaway you know "I Died". She is definitely one of my biggest Fashion Icons and clearly this outfit was inspired by her style. I still can't believe I won, craziness.
This definitely perked up my Friday!
You can see my original post on this outfit here.
Thanks for letting me share ladies and there is a chance to win next week so go upload your outfits!!

Look of the Day: A Pocket for Corduroy

Thursday is Casey's softball night, so I took the opportunity to hang out with two of my best friends, Mandy and Jen. We went out to a local brewery to celebrate the Giants win (woo-hoo) and enjoyed some time together. We even tried to get the one man show to play Lisa Loeb--didn't happen.

For our girls night, I rocked one of my favorite shirts. I have worn this LF stores shirt on several occasions but for some reason it has skirted the camera and has never made the blog. So here she is. It's got a enough going on that it holds it own in an outfit. Mandy likened it to a cape.

I also broke out my Free People Corduroy Leggings, and they are nothing short of amazing! Seriously, the most comfortable pants ever. I could wear them every day, and that might just happen. They were also a nice switch from my go-to J Brand Jeggings.
Happy Friday!!
<span class=
When I think of Corduroy I can't help but think of a little brown bear wearing green overalls with one button missing, I loved that book.
<span class=
The details on this shirt are just too fun!

And I just wanted to say thank you to anyone who takes the time to read, comment or follow my blog! You ladies blow me way everyday!!!

Look of the Day: You Say, I Only Hear What I Want To

Yesterday I threw on my Cat eye sunglasses for fun. And while they are decidedly more like Audrey Hepburn's cat eye sunglasses in Breakfast at Tiffany's, Lisa Loeb came to mind when I put them on.
I'd have to that Stay(I Missed You) is my all time favorite one hit wonder. I have memories of being a twelve year old jumping on my bed with Vanessa belting out every lyric. Those cat eye glasses of hers were the only thing she needed to stand out in that music video. Oh 1994 I miss you.
I don't listen hard, I don't pay to the distance that you're running to anyone anywhere.
I don't understand if you really care.
I'm only hearing negative: no, no, no.
IMG_5563
And I thought I'd live forever but now I'm sure.
You try to tell me that I'm clever, but that won't take me anyhow, or anywhere with you.

Movie of the Moment: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

I love movies, specifically old ones. I look to them for inspirations and I kind of obsess over them. I enjoy seeing how glamorous ladies during the old Hollywood era, and free they were during the 70's.

Many of you know I love Audrey Hepburn and Breakfast at Tiffany's (I even planned a Breakfast at Tiffany's themed party). I spend many nights watching old movies. Comcast's movie's by decades and my new Audrey Hepburn boxed set (more on that later) will fuel many Old Hollywood nights in the future.

The most recent movie I watched was Cat on a Hot Tine Roof starring Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman, both of whom are just fabulous to look at in the movie. Old movies are so different then the ones we watch now. This is definitely an intense movie, examining heavy topics. I had to watch it twice (and wikipedia-ed it my way through it) but I really liked it.

And if you're interested it is currently in Comcast's movies by decade's section for $2.99.
<span class=
I have loved Elizabeth Taylor since I was young and read (then watched) National Velvet.
<span class=I
The movie takes place over a course of a day, so we only see Elizabeth Taylor in two outfits, naturally both are incredibly chic!
<span class=

<span class=
What are some of you favorite classic movies? Perhaps they need to go on my list.

Look of the Day: Do You Remember the 21st Night of September?

I always that would make a really cool wedding date. The only eventful things that occurred on last night's 21st night of September included watching a really boring Giants game (at least it resulted in a win) and the Glee premier.

Wow! Did anyone else think Lea Michelle looked completely different? Besides her new hair, she lost a ton of {unnecessary} weight! I guess that's what Hollywood does to you. I hope the cast can keep it together, its such a fun show.

I mean we don't want another Mischa Barton running around leaving the O.C. after three seasons. That not only cursed the show but, her career. What exactly has she been up to lately?

Well at least we have next week's Britney episode to look forward. I'm sure it's a lot of hype, but I love Britney! And I she rocked her HIMYM cameo. I'm hoping for a similar performance.
Denim, Lace and sparkles.
Perfect for my 21st outfit of September.

Purchase Rave: Free People Corduroy Leggings

I was requested by some readers to post my purchases when I make them, so here it goes.
I ordered these Free People Corduroy leggings, they arrived today and I am in love. I highly recommend them, they fit perfect and are so comfortable--expect to see these on me weekly.

I read the reviews and they said to size up. I am in between sizes so I went up and they fit perfect. So I'll let you know if they stretch out when I wear them. I am super stoked off these so just wanted to let you all know if you had your eye on them like me!

Look of the Day: i heart it

Yesterday Jen had the grand idea to make chili to eat while we were watching the the Niner's Monday Night football game. So she called her mom up and got her secret recipe and then we scurried around to collect all the ingredients.

Since Jen and I had so much fun with our photo-shoot on Sunday, I decided to pull over at a little spot that I thought would be the perfect backdrop for the hippie dresses we were wearing. It's kind of fun posing a taking pictures, and really those big bright hearts is just asking to be a backdrop in pictures.

My dress was purchased on a whim in Venice. After spending almost two weeks with just the boys, I ran into a random store, saw this dress and purchased it without trying it on. Yesterday Jen told me it's her favorite dress of mine. I heart this dress.
