May I Suggest?

For as long I remember, my Mom has shopped at Cost Plus and Trader Joes. At that time, they were both be in the same shopping center and I have many of fond memories of tagging along to both stores with her. They were so fun and had so much cool stuff! I am still loyal to both stores and shop at both regularly. On a recent trip to Cost Plus, I picked up these awesome reusable travel coffee mugs (I only see solid colors online) and some fun funky rings.
If you are a coffee drinker I highly recommend getting reusable coffee mugs, and if you need more incentive check out this quote from www.carbonrally.com.
" a staggering 14.4 billion are bought in disposable paper cups. Placed end-to-end, these cups would wrap around Earth 55 times and weigh around 900 million pounds......Unlike newspaper and cardboard boxes, disposable paper cups are not recyclable. The thin lining that makes a paper cup waterproof also keeps it from being recycled. "

"By using your own coffee cup, you will reduce your CO2 emissions by a total of 1.25 lbs this week."

For more information check out the Carbonrally.com website here.

Now if that isn't incentive enough, maybe these adorable mugs will sway you. Alright (Wendy), sorry to get all Hippie on you, but aren't they cute?

  3. Those are super cute!

    I use one of these
http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&sku=13066302 on my way to work every morning. They were one of the best shower gifts I got (in terms of daily usage) - they never leak, spill, and my coffee stays hot (like HOT) for up to 4 hrs (which is clutch when I forget to bring it with me to a morning mtg)...

Great post Amber, if we cost plus, I'd definitely keep my eye for those!

  7. Ehayes- YAY for reusable cups!! I'm sure those much better insulators then my mugs but Casey is a Environmental Scientist and although he isn't really all that into the Green Movement he is really weird about Plastic and he doesn't like us to have anything that is plastic lined. So for us finding travel mugs that are ceramic and or silicon is pretty hard. SO I guess that is why i was so excited about these, they were Casey approved lol.

Lynn- browsing at World Market is one of my favorite things to do, but I can never seem to leave the store empty handed I always seem to grab something lol

Thanks Suzy, Jammer and Teaching in Heels!

  9. Wow - that's interesting about plastic linings... the ones we have are stainless inside and out, but I have no idea what's "insulating" inbetween them. Learn something new everyday!

  10. Ohh I just checked and you are right! Those would be casey approved! Most cups that look like that have plastic inside. Sweet!

  11. ... forgot to add, while I didn't think about what material is insulating the interior (since I can't see it)... I'm sorta like Casey with plastic. Although I own some 'gladware' and the like, I rarely use it (unless packing something for a guest to takeaway with them, or bring in cookies to work, etc) I always use our glass pyrex with lids for leftovers and I never microwave plastic - its crazy how bad that is for you..

  12. I heart my Pyrex too! And you are right your mugs are plastic free =)

  13. I love the idea but wonder if my Starbucks, Coffee bean, Tede's etc.. will honor them. Some businesses are funny about handling outside containers for sanitary reasons. That will be interesting but I will try because I have been wondering about that! Great find, Great Post!
    Happy Sunday,

  14. These are awesome Amber, so cute!
I am a tea drinker, but these would work for that as well. That is a lot of garbage to be saving if each person switched over to reusable!

  15. HCIHH- I don't really drink coffee out so I don't know about that. good point though

Andi_ I love tea as well!
