Movie of the Moment: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

I love movies, specifically old ones. I look to them for inspirations and I kind of obsess over them. I enjoy seeing how glamorous ladies during the old Hollywood era, and free they were during the 70's.

Many of you know I love Audrey Hepburn and Breakfast at Tiffany's (I even planned a Breakfast at Tiffany's themed party). I spend many nights watching old movies. Comcast's movie's by decades and my new Audrey Hepburn boxed set (more on that later) will fuel many Old Hollywood nights in the future.

The most recent movie I watched was Cat on a Hot Tine Roof starring Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman, both of whom are just fabulous to look at in the movie. Old movies are so different then the ones we watch now. This is definitely an intense movie, examining heavy topics. I had to watch it twice (and wikipedia-ed it my way through it) but I really liked it.

And if you're interested it is currently in Comcast's movies by decade's section for $2.99.

I have loved Elizabeth Taylor since I was young and read (then watched) National Velvet.

The movie takes place over a course of a day, so we only see Elizabeth Taylor in two outfits, naturally both are incredibly chic!

What are some of you favorite classic movies? Perhaps they need to go on my list.

  1. Okay, I have to see this. I saw the play in LA a few years ago, and it was great. I too love the old days and an old movie is always so fun.

My favorite "classics" (I say this loosely because I am thinking 80s/90s) are Sixteen Candles, Can't Buy Me Love, Top Gun and Pretty Woman.

  2. We did a production of this while I was in college getting my BFA degree in Acting, but I have yet to see the Elizabeth Taylor version and feel it a must for me! "Clue" is a classic for me...although it isn't that old! :)

  6. I started reading your blog a few weeks ago and I'm in love. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is one of my all time favorite movies ever! I'm so glad you enjoyed (and blogged) about the film. ET is wonderful in Cleopatra and Butterfield 8. Also, there is an amazing article in this past July's Vanity Fair about her and Richard Burton's love affair:)
