Things I Love: Little Full, Lotta Sap

About seven years ago when Casey and I were first dating,
my Mom asked us if we would like to pick out a Christmas tree to decorate.

It sounded like the perfect afternoon mini-date, and of course we accepted.
My Mom has a very tall ceiling and can fit a pretty tall tree in her house.
So Casey decided we needed to get the tallest tree we could possibly fit.
He measured the area and we headed off to the Christmas tree farm.

For some reason all the trees available were 2 feet shorter then we were looking for. So we headed over to the area where unwrapped trees were and we started measuring.

Finally, Casey found a tree that was the correct height, all bundled up, and easy to bring home.
The workers threw the tree on top of our car and we headed back to my Mom's.

We pulled the tree off the top of the car, that's when we started to realize something was wrong.
This tree was heavy.
VERY heavy.
We struggled as we brought the tree inside.

Remember that scene from National Lampoon's Christmas?
You know, when Clark Griswold cuts the string around the tree and the branches shoot out breaking the windows?

That's not far from what happened to this tree.
We unwrapped the tree and it was as wide as it was tall.
Needless to say, we had to wrap the tree back up
and bring it back to exchange for a tree that wasn't so large-and-in-charge.

Now every year, when we go to get Christmas trees,
we have a good laugh over the tree that my mom dubbed "My Giant".
Poor Casey will never live that down.
