Style Icon: We're just Two Girls From Little Rock

This week we lost a legend when we said goodbye to Jane Russel. Gentleman prefer blondes is one of my favorite feel good movies. Jane Russel is just amazing in it, she's classy stylish and glamorous. And she holds her own next to Marilyn Monroe. Who doesn't love a movie about two best friends going on a cruise to Paris.
There's just something about actresses in the fifties that is so glamorous and stylish.
I wish we saw more of that today.

  1. I loved her in Gentlemen prefer Blondes! So sad to hear the news of her passing, she's definitely left her mark in the world of fashion though.

  2. She was amazing wasn't she? I adore Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. They just don't make em like they used too.

  3. I just adore the "old" movies. Women always looked so perfectly polished, just gorgeous...their style, hair..ah to die for.

  5. I thought she was terrific, too. For some reason whenever I see her I think of Ronald Reagan. They just don't make like this anymore. No. Instead we get Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan.

Why is my stomach suddenly burning? :(

  6. I love that movie. I have to say, though, in googling pictures of her, she really isn't conventionally attractive. She has a bombshell figure, of course, but face-wise, she doesn't strike me as really all that pretty. And yet, there's something about her that makes you forget that. As you said, she more than held her own next to Marilyn.

Maybe I'm just glamourizing the past (okay, probably), but it seems like back then there was a wider range of "attractive." Now, everyone looks the same.

  8. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes was one of my favorite movies as a kid. I still get the songs stuck in my head all the time. I know Marilyn was supposed to be the "star", but I think Jane stole the show. She's a woman worth admiring.
