It seems all too coincidental that Nordstrom's triple points occurred when I have extra time on my hands to search around. Currently my cart is filled with super girly pieces that are begging for spring to arrive. Really I am having trouble resisting just about everything. Here are a few pieces I am currently debating.

Things I Love: Dresses

I have a thing for dresses, my dresses even have their own special closet in my gilry room. So I'm always on the the hunt for new dresses, and this morning a found a dress that I had to share. Last spring I wore this Haute Hippie dress to a wedding. It was quite pricey is sold out now, so when I came across this Free People dress I thought it was the prefect Look 4 Less and I had to share.

Look of the Day: The History Channel

It may be Monday but I'm still thinking about my weekend. I woke up sore from my Sunday morning yoga and still have pictures from my lunch with my family to download. On Saturday I spent my morning coaching my OM team and then in the evening Casey and I got a quick bit to eat, but not before settling in and watching a good 4 hours of the history channel. Casey and I love the History Channel. Our favorite shows include American Pickers and Top Gear. We also love their specials. On Saturday we watched The Third Reich: The Rise and the Fall. Hard to watch at some points but very interesting.

I was still playing with patterns on Saturday, I have been trying to play with different hair styles as well.

Look of the Day: Anti-Dentite

"You're a rabid anti-dentite! Oh, it starts with a few jokes and some slurs. "Hey, denty!" Next thing you know you're saying they should have their own schools."

Yesterday I contunied to celebrate the fresh new start of the New Year by going to the dentist and getting my six month cleaning. I am one of those people who loves going to the dentist. I enjoy getting my teethed cleaned. They just feel so much better after.

Along with starting the New Year off with clean teeth, I also got a fresh start on my 2011 Looks of the Day and I finally recorded my first outfit of 2011. Well let's be honest I don't think I've taken this coat off since the New Year. My sister got me this Free People Floral Cozy Coat for Christmas and I just adore it. Yesterday I brightened it up by pairing it with a red knit beret, a turquoise necklace and my new Pink Marc by Marc Jacobs purse.

Now some people may not think red and pink go together but I like to think bright colors compliment each other, especially when used as accents. So that's exactly what I did. I am pretty certain this pink purse is going to go with a lot things and it just makes me happy when I look at it. And it's big enough to hold my camera with out being bulky. Gotta love it.

And I love the messenger style strap. That means my hands are free when I'm shopping!

Look Of the Day: Teenage Dreams

Back in high school each night my best friend Jamie and I would methodically plan out our outfits for the next day over the telephone (you know that old land line thing). We both had sisters and each other's closet's to pull pieces from, so in all we had three closet to choose from. Wearing the same top or sweater in the same month was something that rarely happened.

Now I only have one closet to pull from so I have to make sure it's good. So I think about what I know: Season's are predictable, I lived in the Bay area long enough I know the climate by now. And think about what I like: I know in winter and fall I'll want to wear plaids. I'll also want to wear sweaters and boots. So when I buy pieces I know I'll want to wear it allows me to easily update my outfit each new season.

All I did to update this outfit from last year was add new boots and socks. Looking at what pieces I really like and want to wear helps me from mindlessly purchasing items that I won't wear often or won't wear more then one season. It also helps me from having panic moments while looking at my closet and thinking 'what the heck am I going to wear?'. Because you know, I can no longer call Jamie the night before and ask her what tops she has in her closet that I could borrow.

Look of the Day: When in Karokee Bars

Living with Jen so far has been pretty fun so far. We celebrated the other night by hitting up a dive karaoke bar. And no one should ever give me free range on a microphone--especially when other people are around. My voice could be likened to someone who tried out for American Idol, but who not only didn't get the invite to Hollywood, they who can't comprehend why they weren't picked. Thankfully I am not surrounded by other tone death people who encourage my singing.

Our Karaoke night out kicked Jen's stay here off nicely. I now have a live-in biking partner and girly movie watching partner. Last night we watched When in Rome. Wow, Josh Duhmel sure is cute! Although I have no idea how Fergie managed to lock that up. Maybe because it's because she's so G-L-A-M-O-R-OUS...

I'm looking forward to many more bike rides and girly movie watching.

I always like to wear pieces that people can't help but comment on.

Look of the Day: Some People Say Rappers are Invincible, We're Vincible

Have you ever thrown caution to the wind? Got caught up in the moment? Made a bad choice? Well I have. And this, I'm sure, won't be the last time. After a series of bad ideas I was left with a reminder, on my face none-the-less, to always to use my common sense.

My face will heal, not so sure about my black and blue ego.

Hindsight is always 20/20.

How I Shop: Wish List and Closet Shopping

I woke up this morning and it felt nothing of August. The wind is blowing the, the sun isn't out and it's just down right gloomy. I have been trying hard to fend off the fall fashion rush but the weather today is just making it hard.
Instead of running out to buy a bunch of impulse items, I decided to use my Free People August Moroccan inspired Look Book to help me figure what I already had in my closet. And also to help me narrow down what I could put on my wish list.
I flipped through the look book to determine what looks I could create with what I already have in my closet. I find that it's a great method to help you shop your own closet, and use pieces in ways you wouldn't have thought about before. And it kind of reminds me of playing with my Barbies, only she had way more pink stilettos and ball gowns.

I knew I would love everything when I saw this cover.

And my version, minus the camel. Accessories would make this look pop.

One thing I love about Fall fashion is layers. Chances are there are plenty of items in your closet ready to be reworked just by layering them differently.

I also loved the sock and wedges aspect of this look.

When I saw this look I was immediately reminded of an old yellow scarf I had. I would have never thought to style it like this.

I absolutely love this biker jacket and skirt. But at $856 and $198 I'm pretty sure they won't be added to my closet. I wonder if the skirt could be DIYed I just don't know if I could pull off the same awesome ruffles.

Look of the Day: Rings on Her Fingers, Bells on Her Toes

A week after I left the hospital my Gma is back in the same hospital I was at for a knee replacement surgery. It's actually pretty good timing because I had to be at the hospital today and tomorrow for follow up appointments. So my Mom and I were able to stop into today and will see her again tomorrow. My poor Mom has spent about 3 weeks in that hospital taking care of me and now my Grandma. Here's to hoping I get good news at my appointment tomorrow AND hopefully my Gma will be able to go home as well. My mom deserves a break!
Speaking of my Gma, I have mentioned before that she is one of my style icons and has taught me a whole lot about style. She always wears fun and funky outfit even at 81, and after this knee surgery she will be back to rocking outfits soon enough. I think she is just as miserable as I was rocking those horrible hospital gowns. Today I wore a few rings that remind me of the ones my Gma always wears. And the necklace I wore was one of the presents my Gma gave me for my birthday. They were the perfect things to wear when visiting her today!

Look of the Day: The Day After My Birthday Is Not My Birthday, Mum

I feel better!! Can you see me jumping up and down? Well the mere fact I am jumping should mean something. In any case does the day after your birthday feel weird to anyone else? After a day of opening presents, eating cake and having people you haven't heard from in 10 years write on your Facebook wall, today just seems mundane. I guess it's time for Donald and I to step aside and let Neil Patrick Harris and all the other June fifth-teeners to have their time.

Nonetheless, this was outfit was what I rocked on my birthday and it was all items gifted to me from my lovely Mother. In case if I haven't mentioned it before, my Mom pretty much rocks. For my birthday she took Casey, myself and my oldest and dearest friend Mandy out to my very favorite tapas restaurant. We rang in my 28th year with local food, fond memories and even some WINE!! Yup, that's how good I felt! It's nice to being back to feeling like normal person! And I suppose that's exactly how I felt today. Just like a normal person, no longer the special person, or birthday girl.
