Weekend Recap: Turkish Delights

After being away the past couple of weekends, it was nice to have a low-key weekend at home. I started my Friday evening by shooting outfit pictures with the lovely Lydia Hudgens (I can't wait to share the photos with you). After the photo-shoot I went over to Vanessa's house for a Turkish cooking lesson, and helped her family prepare for her father's Turkish birthday party.

Vanessa and her Aunt showed us how to prepare Czech Chicken.
It was a boiled chicken covered with a walnut, bread and chicken broth mixture.

On Sunday, Vanessa and I took her cousin out to lunch at Unwind.
The weather was gorgeous. We enjoyed the sun, delish snacks and we hit up the LF 60% off sale.

It was a nice weekend full of friends, family and fun.
I hope your weekend was a nice one as well.

Look of the Day: Glitter-rific

Yesterday I attended the the Glitter Guide Launch party (pictures to follow) so you know I had to bust out some sequins. I evaluated the glitter options in my closet and went with a sequin vest that I purchased from H&M after seeing Rachel Roe wear something similar. Ya'll know I love her. I decided an event like last night's was the perfect opportunity to bust out some of my Louboutins, who spend most of their time looking pretty in my shoe closet, and get dolled up. I topped things off with a few sparkly jewelry pieces and some Sally Hansen Glitter nail strips. It's fun to get ready to go hang out with a big group of girls and celebrate all things glittery!

Big thanks to the Lovely Glitter Girls for throwing a perfect opportunity to get all glittered up and girly!

Although I wore the shirt tied it still showed a bit of skin -- giving the outfit a pin-up feel.

Amber's {Video} Notebook: Like an N8, Like an N8

Recently Nokia & Ell magazine started a search fro the next Style Correspondent, as part of this, Nokia reached out to me to see if I would like to trial one of their New pink N8's. When I recived the phone yesterday I was pretty excited, so Jen and I headed out to San Francisco to give the N8 a try. Here are few of our videos from the day, warning we're kind of weird!

Look of the Day: No Pants Party

The Birthday celebration continued through the weekend. On Friday I volunteered Loaves & Fishes before heading out the Giants game (they lost - bummer). And on Saturday I had a birthday celebration with family and then I headed out to the city with my sister and girlfriends. It was a no pants party and we rocked it out. We went to Chaya in San Francisco and had a fabulous time there. We also had a few photo-shoots, it's always fun to get together with you girlfriends and get silly!
I rocked my new dress for LF on Union Street.
It's the kind of dress I want to wear every single day.

All right, I celebrated for a week straight, it's about time to get back to reality. Watch out though! I got a new computer and am going to be a blogging machine!

Let's Make a Steal: Leather Duster Earrings

When I was shopping in San Francisco the other day, I picked up a pair of leather duster earrings at the Union Street LF store. They were 70% and pretty freaking sweet. And at $20 a pair, I snagged the last ones--boy was V jealous! After wearing them I started thinking that I could totally recreate a similar look. And that's just what I did! I whipped up a pair using some faux leather from JoAnn's and an old broken necklace. For less then three bucks I created a pretty good look alike. Here's how I did it.
$7 worth of supplies (enough for at least 10 pairs of earrings):
1/2 yard of each black and cognac faux snake skin leather ($1.99 a yard)
Earring hooks ($2.99 a pack)
And Old Necklace (Zero Dollars)
Tools: Pencil, Scissors, X-Acto, Ruler, and a Needle.
Inspiration:
Originally $60 full price.
Step One:
Flip fabric to backside and measure 5 inches of fabric.
Step Two:
Draw (or I traced) your earring shape.
I ended up just folding the fabric in half and cutting to get two identical earrings.
Step 3:
Cut-out earrings.
Step Four:
Cut fringe.
Step Five:
Pick your chains out and assemble.
Step Six:
Start stringing.
Step Seven:
Get out your needle!
Step Eight:
Poke a hole in the fabric, near the top.
And attach the leather strip last.
Ta-da!
Side by Side.
There you have it.
Now go spend that $55 bucks I saved you on something real special!
