Things I Love: Three Oh Seven

Twenty seven years ago I also became a big sister. On March 7th, 1984 I got a best friend, lifelong dress up partner and someone to help double my Barbie collection. Having a younger sister gave me she gave me an excuse to listen to Hanson (I was bit too old), allowed me to exercise my bossy muscle (perhaps too much), and I got to live vicariously through her when she went to grad school in Malibu. My sister and I have had so much fun over the years and we still do. I love to go visit her in LA and star stalk and shop with her -- I can't wait to make a trip down to see her soon!
Happy Birthday sis!
I love you Andi!

Things I Love: Things That are Making me Smile

First off thanks for all the wedding dress feedback! You all put a huge grin on my face. Thank you for all the kind words! I never expected all the compliments and for that post to be do fun! I heart you all!
Here are a few other things that are making me smile right now:
An Audrey Hepburn calendar that my sister picked up for me on clearance at Pier 1.
I am going to do something with the prints...just not sure what.
Chanel Particuliere nail polish that I won from Andi's SaltWaterDreams blog giveaway! Thank you so much Andi. She is my virtual older sister. And I can't wait to rock this quintessential fall color!
Local magazines, like San Francisco Magazine.
I always find the best restaurants, shopping and events when I read local editorials.
I am also loving the September JCrew catolouge! Talk about fall...love it!
And I am super stoked off of winning this Mink Pink Animal Instinct top from Kim over at Style Funksion. Rwaaar!
And lastly I am excited for my sister who is up this week from LA.
She has four bills waiting for Arnold to sign and pass and she was on the cover of the Sacromento Bee today for her fashionable ways!! I taught her well ;)
Go Andi!
So far it's been a good week for me, I hope you have little things that make you smile as well!

Weekend Recap: Saying Goodbye, Saying Goodbye to Hollywood

Happy Monday!! I hope you are having a great day and had a fabulous weekend. I know I sure did. Despite waking up with what I thought was a cold on Friday I ended up powering through the weekend and made a last minute road trip down to LA and I'm SO glad I did! I hadn't been my last amazing trip in January, and wow it had been too long. I had a blast visiting my sister's new place in LA, showing my Mom and friend Mandy around my favorite places in Hollywood and just enjoying the heck out of life. I even got to reenact my Briney Spears encounter at it's original location. Gosh I love LA and last minute adventures.
My Happy Place.

Sunset Marquis.
Wendy, it was Bumping.
Venice Beach.
Santa Monica

Did I mention how I love the beach?
Marion Davies' Guest House
Obsessed with old Hollywood.

Ready For Those Flashing Lights.
Papa Paparazzi!Britney encounter re-enactment:
Starring me as myself, Andrea as Britney Spears and Mandy as Sean Preston.

The OPP crew
Coffee Bean in Malibu. A must stop for me every trip I make down to SoCal.
You know I hit up Planet Blue...
Loving life.

So. Hard. To. Leave.
I like to take a minute to a few people:
My Mom for everything, including planning a trip to LA and sparking the urge for me to go.
My sister for living in LA and providing me with a place to stay, and for being my Designated Driver.
My Husband for allowing me to letting me go whereever the wind blows me when he is busy with softball.
Mandy for pressuring me to go even when I was afraid I was sick. And for letting me show her around for her first trip to LA!!!
My Dad and Rena because they just rock and inspire me to dream big.
Dustin for putting up with us crazies and for getting us into the club I wanted to check out.
Wendy for finding the coolest places in LA!! Can't wait to meet you there again!
And for anyone who took the time to read or comment on this post!

Look of the Day: Quasi-Mode-Oh

I just read through all my hospital/pneumonia posts starting on May 27th when I was first admitted to the ER (I actually started complaining about being sick in this post on May 24th) and I'm so glad I wrote as much as I did down, but still left so much out (like when I had the tube in my lung I couldn't make it to the bathroom and had to pee bedside lol). It's still feels like all of that didn't really happen to me because it was all such a blur. I had never spent any time in hospital before and honestly hospitals scared me but since it all happened and progressed so quickly I never had a chance to get scared about everything I was going through. Ten days in the hospital? No big deal. Having blood drawn 3 times a day? I have the track marks to prove it. A CT scan? Sure why not. Poking a hole in your back to insert a tube into your lung to drain liquid? Go ahead. Inserting a catheter line through my arm into my main artery? Insert away! It was like facing a fear without knowing I was about to face it, but I suppose that is how people with way worse health issues get through them, no matter scary things may be.
Now that I am home, I am back to my quasi-outfit/feels like pajama gig. When you sleep half the day away you have to be prepared to wear outfits that you can easily crawl up in a ball and take a nap in. I am feeling so much better but I am quickly reminded how hard my body is working to fight this infection when I: Wake up 9:30, only because the phone rang. Watch Regis and Kelly (wow did anyone else see how horrible Christina Aguilera looked? I mean a Tiara on a 29 year old women? Come on! Have Jen over for some coffee and help her put together some favors for her sister's bridal shower. Eat lunch that my sister made me at 12:00 and then pass out on the couch until 4:30 because that's all I had energy for. The days really aren't long enough for me. When I did wake up Casey administrated my catheter medicine and then my Mom and Sister took me on a walk around the neighborhood to exercise my lungs. We then all went out for a couple shrimp tacos a local Mexican restaurant, and even that was a struggle for me to get through.
Head bands, Leggings and Slouchy Tees and Tunics are my friends these days.
Above me is some of the decor Jen and I made for her sister's shower.
Rocking a Rachel Pally tee and H&M Headband, and assorted hospital accessories.
Yay for coffee with friends, craft time and having my sister in town for the weekend!

Style Icon: Sister Bo Bo Mo Bister

I am so lucky to have such a FABULOUS sister! Growing up I always had a Barbie playing partner, personal model and a closet to borrow clothes from. Now that we are grown up she is my role model, LA weekend trip partner and my best friend. She's pretty freaking awesome. And works in the Capitol alongside Arnold writing bills, she is so cool =) I am very proud to call her my sister. Have a great birthday Annarea!!
Happy Birthday Andi!!
Rocking rompers and heart shaped glasses. The hard faces crack me up.
Probably the last time I have done anyone's makeup...yikes!
I was styling {at home} photoshoots way back when, she was my always favorite model.
Wasn't she a cutie?? =)
We sure loved playing dress up. Again the faces crack me up! Working it.
I love you sissy bo bo mo bister! Have a great time in LA, I am jealous I am not there with you!!
