Look of the Day: Little Ditty

Sequins and stripes are a weakness of mine; my closet is littered with them. I like skirts too, skirts are my favorite. They are versatile, girly, lady-like and transform clothes into an 'outfit'.

This Ecote Geo Wrap skirt from Urban Outfitters is about 5 years old (I purchased it after seeing it on Lauren Conrad) and it never ceases to amaze me how I continue to reach for it in my closet. You can see how I wore it here, here, and it's first debut here. It's bright, flattering and I always get tons of compliments on it.

Classic pieces of clothing, that can be worn over and over, have changed my shopping habits. Now I stop and think "Could I really wear this five years from now?" and chances are a flattering skirt (that's not too short) will be around in five years. I've definitely got more then my money's worth on this little ditty.

WSAW: What Should Amber Wear? Help me pick!

This Saturday I am going to Jen's sister's wedding. I am super excited, as it should be blast. And I can't wait to cheer Jen on when she gives her speech! So now I just need to figure out what to wear.
I tend to "collect" dresses, rather then purchase new ones for events. When I see a dress I love, I buy it (like the story behind GORGEOUS Haute Hippe dress that I wore to the last wedding I attended). So today I went into my dress closet to figure out what I should wear, and I'd love to hear your opinion!
Dress #1 Laila Azhar pleated Strapless Dress
I purchased this dress over a year ago after seeing it on Vanessa Minillo. It has been patiently waiting for an event to be worn to. Normally I would not wear this to a wedding but this is Jen's favorite dress and it's her pick for what I should wear. On Vanessa.

Dress #2:
Robert Rodriguez Yellow Button Front Bubble Dress
I purchased this dress after seeing it on Lauren Conrad. I love this dress and it hasn't gotten much wear in public, or in pictures (Facebook and the blog) I have only worn it with Casey on date nights. I love this dress BUT I lent it to the bride about a year ago to wear to a wedding and I feel like some people might remember it. I love it none the less.
On Lauren:
Dress #3: Lauren Conrad Collection Brittney Dress
I purchased this dress before LC had her Kohls line. I like this dress but it always seems to get passed up by something else and Jen is worried that it's not fancy enough.
Lauren in the same dress but a different color.
Dress #4 Alice & Olivia Striped Print Kimono Tunic
I recently purchased this dress after seeing it on the bachlorette Ali Fedotowsky and then my size popped up randomly on sale at Shopbop.com.
On Ali...I hope her and Roberto get a reality show, I heart her!I would love to see what ya'll think and which dress you think I should rock this weekend!

Look of the Day: Playing Favorites

I'm not good with favorites. I'm too indecisive to just pick one. Favorite color? Blue, Pink, Grey, green, it's hard to choose. Favorite Food? Um, I don't know, does Ketchup count?

Luckily sometimes my favorites things show me they are my favorite, rather then making me choose.
Favorite Movie? well Breakfast at Tiffany's rarely gets put back in the case.
Favorite Coffee Mug? The one that is always in the dish washer.
Favorite shoes, ?he ones that are worn to pieces.

This Rachel Pally Zuma top is evidently one of my favorite pieces to grab. It goes from a wear, to washer, to ready to be hang mode but rarely makes back into the closet before I grab it to throw on.I remember I first purchased it last summer after seeing it's versatility in Shopbop's Ultimate Closet (a favorite feature of mine). And when I spotted Lauren Conrad in it, I was inspired again as to how to wear it.
This is how I wore it yesterday. Just easy to grab and go.
Rachel Pally Slouchy Zuma Tee Shirt, J brand Jeggings (another thing that rarely makes it back the closet piece), headband from who knows where, and my go to Cynthia Vincent sandals (again those rarely make it off my feet) .
In fact I love this shirt so much I re-wore over and over on my Europe Trip.
Let's see where this shirt has been.
Cheering on Deutschland in the World Cup.
On the Lake in Austria.
At a Hotel in Italy.
Visiting Piazza San Marco in Venice.
And Lauren Conrad wearing the Rachel Pally Zuma Shirt.
And How Shopbop styled the Rachel Pally Zuma Tee.

Yay for favorite things, a piece of clothing you can always rely on, and for getting your money's worth out of an overpriced tee.

Look of The Day: You Came in With the Breeze, On Sunday Morning

Even after the shenanigans of the wedding Saturday night, I was still able to wake up at eight a.m. and head to Target. When shoes are calling my name, I listen, and listen I did. I love my Cynthia Vincent Luella wedges, so you can only imagine how excited I was about this Target collaboration. I ordered a few pairs online but I needed to go to the store to make sure I was able to snag a pair of the cognac wedges, and snag, I did. I will be posting pictures of my purchases shortly.
Clearly on an early morning I needed an easy outfit to throw on, and nothing is easier then a maxi dress. When I throw one on I feel comfy and still feel put together.
This Lauren Conrad for Kohls dress achieved that sentiment perfectly!

I am 5'6 and it was a bit shorter then I prefer, but the color and price sold me. My cardigan is an old Urban Outfitters (BDG) one.
And because everyone could a use a little Rachel Pally in their life, make sure you check out my current GIVEAWAY.

Look of the Day: Now Lean Back, Lean Back

See we just pull up the pants and, Do the Roc-a-way.
My Bff jen, who's birthday party happens to be this weekend, did my hair today. She always hooks it up, and it is always lot of fun when she does my hair. But for some reason I am not very good at leaning back or relaxing while she washes my hair in the sink... lean back.. lean back. In case I just love my hair now, well every time I get my hair done by Jen it looks great. I have very thin and fine hair and Jen takes such good care of my baby hair, and she listens to my requests of wanting to be very natural and beachy looking. My new blonder streaks added to the already spring feel of my day.

Naturally I choose to wear florals while I was welcoming spring. This Lauren Conrad for Kolhs blouse is a really great blouse for $20. I like that I can tuck it into skirts or wear it loose for totally different effects. Since it is not spring quite yet I opted to pair it with boots, and tights today.

Also I just wanted to note that I am no longer allowed to view blogs at work. I am still reading tons at work on my iphone but it is a pain to comment (especially when I have to type a code in) so I just wanted to apologize for my lack of comments. I am still reading! Sorry ladies!

Look of the Day: Sister, Sister

how about a two-way twister?

I think I may have mentioned I way a huge TGIF fan (oh just here and here). Those Fridays spent watching ABC pretty good...
Yesterday I actually rocked a bit of color again! Perhaps I am easing myself into spring. In any case, I am very excited for this weekend. My sister is coming into town and we celebrating her birthday, YAY! I LOVE my family and I love spending time with them, so I am very excited. To kick my weekend off, Casey and I went out on a date last night to a fabulous tapas restaurant. I wore my Yumi Kim Amber top (same top different print on sale here). I purchased this blouse after seeing it on Lauren Conrad and I am so glad I did, it is such a perfect fitting blouse! I highly recommend it.
Worn with my Christian Louboutins and COH jeans. (Similar shoes here).
When shopping for a special sister of mine I purchased these mile long Free People earrings.I tried on and they were freakishly close to the pattern of my shirt. Random! And of course I rocked my Bow Necklace ( just like the one I am GIVING AWAY)YAY! For the weekend!!

Look of the Day: Dirty Mouth? Clean it Up!

I am SO glad you are as excited about the Bow Necklace giveaway as I am. I thought you would love it!! And one of you will be lucky to have one for free! Even I had to buy my own =)

I thought the Oscars were very entertaining. I loved Alex Bladwin and Steve Martin, and OMG of course Neil Patrick Harris. I heart him! there were lots of gorgeous dresses, although nothing really blew me away. I felt like a lot of my favorite stars were not there this year. I liked Anna Kendrick's dress but I wasn't a fan of her shoes paired with her dress. I loved Nicole Richie's look because it was different and I thought she stood out, Zoe Saldana also stood out in the crowd. I though Tina Fey finally looked fabulous and Meryl Streep looked amazing! Demi Moore and Rachel Adams were also on my list of dresses that caught my eye. Clearly ruffles and pleats are here to stay for a bit. And lots of poofy dresses, I liked that winners Sandra Bullock and Kathryn Bigelow did not wear poofy dresses.

"I have Voices In my Head but They speak Spanish so I have no idea what they are saying."

Random but when I say Hurt Locker in my Head it is sounds like how the lady on the Orbit's Gum commercial says "Lint Licker"...Weird I know. Anyways I loved Hurt Locker (Link Licker) it had me yelling and screaming and on the edge of my seat!

I had a mini Oscar party complete with hors d'oeuvres and red {velvet} carpet cupcakes.
Had to post this for the other Andi in my Life ;)
Cupcakes, a cake stand and champagne coupes. I felt oh, so Marie Antoinette!
Prize for Oscar Predictions:
My outfit: I am wearing the necklace I am giving away! And my top is Torn, and is last years version of this top.
And I picked up a few Lauren Conrad pieces at Kohls yesterday. I got this dress, this sequin cardigan, and this blouse.
While shopping at Kohls I earned $20 so I am debating spending it on these boyfriend jeans this moto jacket or this skirt. I have to go back this week before it expires. Decisions, decisions. hehe.

Hope your week started off well! I loved this tweet about Monday's from Joel Madden today:
"Happy Monday everybody. Today is the day you get to decide what kind of week your gonna have!"
I decided I am going to have great week, how about you??

Look of The Day: Mixmaster Mike, Get on The Mic

Mixing prints is going to be huge this spring. I plan on doing lots of print mixing but today I just dipped my toes in the waters. I mixed stripes and flowers, which is a very easy mixed pattern to do. I plan to do some bolder pattern mixing soon but I think outfit demonstrates how easy it can be to do, with much effort at all.
My cardigan is Lauren Conrad for Kohls but this one is very similar in price and style, and I could see so many things with this black and oatmeal one and in one in variety of colors here, the green and white would be perfect for spring!
My top is an urban top (here in a different color)and smilar here( which I also have in the vintage floral color)

Well, I'm A Funky Skull And I'm A Scorpio
Actually I am a Gemini...

Look of the Day: Hearts on Fire

Okay so today totally felt like spring! But this happens just about every year in February. I feel like spring is here to stay and I am ready to pack up my winter things and bid them adieu, but it never quite sticks this early. I *almost* wore sandals today, but living n NorCal it just doesn't seem right to me. So instead I am relishing in my boots for the time being but man I have that itch for spring!!
I meant to use this effect on my Vday outfit but I forgot! So I used it today =)

Rocking another Lauren Conrad Copy Cat Style Look.
On Lauren:
And on Me: A similar blouse here , here and at a great price here .
Also rocking my Frye "Deborah" boots.
Pitchers and Cathers report tomorrow!!! WOot!!!

Look of the Day: Drinking Wine and Thinking Bliss is on the other side of this

I just need a compass and a willing accomplice
This yesterday's outfit that I never got to posting because I ended up having a slumber party!! My friend Jen came over to discuss her sisters bridal shower and after we shared a bottle of wine it turned into a big girls night sleep over. Pink's Funhouse album was on serious repeat. Jen and I are planning the shower and last night we came up with a good idea of how the shower will look we our inspirations are Holly's first birthday party for Wren and this Jessica Claire Workshop set up, with slightly richer colors. We are so excited to put this all together!
Yesterday I wore two things that in my opinion should be closet essentials: a good blazer and floral patterns. Floral patterns are easy to pair with many things (like a blazer) and blazers just rock. I wear this Alice and Olivia one (as seen on Lauren Conrad)with dresses, skirts, jeans, so just about everything.

I am wearing this urban top ( I also have this one a lighter color and LOVE it). This Alice and Olivia blazer ,similar for less I like also this one. And my Ash Olivia boots, alternative foldover boots here (SO similar!) & here (great price one those!)
Not sure why the exposure got so washed out on this one but it showed my Ash Olivia fold over boots really well(which clearly need to be cleaned).
And the look all together.
Yay for Friday!
