Look of the Day: Prepster

When putting outfits together I like outfits that set me apart just a bit. My goal is to never wear exactly what everyone is wearing. The latest Bloggers Do It Better Challenge was to put together an outfit based on the America Prep School style -- bow tie/tie and blazer/vest required. It was fun to play around with my Urban Outfitters bow and I always love rocking a blazer. While the colors of my outfit are anything but typical prepster, I though the very light pink was the perfect way to soften up this look. I also added the readers to add the perfect preppy finishing touch. It was a really fun look to rock for a day, and it was bold enough to warrant compliments from strangers. And wearing it made me feel anything but ordinary.

Look of the Day: What it Feels like For Girl

My girly girl side comes out when:
-Someone puts on Madonna I have to run to the dance floor, as if something has taken over me and I sing at the tops of my lungs while vogue-ing it out.
-I wonder why Musicals ever went out of style.
-And then become thankful that they are back every Tuesday night
-I secretly heart the bad boy..aww Puck
-I shriek at the mere commercial for another Sex in the City Movie comes on..ahh the clothes!
-Then when I see a dress Carrie is wearing in the commercial I freak out (even tweet about it) because it looks like a dress I just wore!
-When the commercial ends and I get sad, and then I am reminded that I BAWLED through the whole entire Sex in the City movie last time.
-Why? Well you have a crier on your hands. Make sure to grab the remote or a box of tissues when one of those touchy-feely Chase Credit Card commercials come on...or any movie/tv show commercial that has explicit feelings in it
Any one else with me on any of those? And anyone else watch the Madonna Glee last night?

WOW, that was amazing, although it was like bug replant for my husband, he could not stay in the same room while they we dancing and sign away. I may have to bring it back to girly girl tomorrow in the outfit. Here was yesterday' outfit, not very girly and not very exciting either. I blame it on the rain, oh yes, it is back.

My bracelet is another recent Cost Plus World Market find, I told you I loved that place. I will be wearing this all spring and summer long.
I rocked my go to Abercrombie cardigan, H&M white button down, and JCrew feather pin and necklace. All old, clearly new clothes will be worn the weather is nicer!
The flowers on my desk have been kicking it since Easter! Rockstars!
See how I immediately revert back to a colorless outfits when the weather shifts?
oh.. only to wear a beautiful skirt like this...a very girly girl piece that could be yours :)

Look of the Day: Bambi's All Grown Up

I came home after a long day to package from Postcards + Love, it was my deer necklace from the giveaway at A Cup Of Joe. I was very excited and threw it on right away. Casey, on the other hand, thought it was weird. One of the nicknames Casey has for me is Bambi, so I told him it was Bambi all grown up, which turned into a debate as to whether or not Bambi was a Stag. Oh silly Casey, you don't know you Disney movies.

I have a serious collection of gold Etsy necklaces going. I have my bow necklace from Claire, my forever necklace from Dorothy and today I rocked my new Postcards and Love Deer necklace and my Sideways cross necklace from Daily Classics.
Amby all grown up...sort of...
My favorite Ash Lotus Wedges.
My Daily Classics Sideways Cross necklace and my Postcards + Love Deer necklace.

Yay for Friday! So excited to get all dressed up for a wedding this weekend, HUGE thank you for the detailed and specific eye shadows recs and application techniques.

Reader Request: Style Advice

Reader Emily, a Midwest Transplant from California send me a question asking my opinion on some shoe choices her is Emily's question and my response:
What do you think of:
1)Sportos
http://www.zappos.com/sporto-aroostic-black-tan
2)Sperry Top-Siders
http://www.zappos.com/product/7609984/color/4697

I can't decide if they are cool or ugly (if you think they're ugly please tell me!) but I'm seeing them EVERYWHERE! It took me a little while to finally break down and get sheepskin boots, and now I have Hunters, Uggs, and Old Navy sweater boots (but don't get me wrong, I do own plenty of other "regular" shoes) and I'm wondering if I need these additional weird (?) shoes in my collection.

I love your blog and trust your style!

-Emily
Thanks for reading the blog Emily! Here is my response to her question:

Thanks for reading my blog! I am honored you would want my advice!
SO here's my take on the shoes. I rarely wear flats, they just don't flatter me. Flat boots and sandals are exceptions.

The first pair I am not into at all. The second pair reminds me of of boat shoes, which I love. And wish I could pull off a nice Hampton-esque look of shorts, a v-neck and a collared shirt poking out, rocking some boat shoes. Or I can picture them paired with a blue and white striped sweater, so Polo and like Classic American. The pair you linked isn't my favorite, I would prefer something a little plainer like this version http://www.zappos.com/sperry-top-sider-bluefish-2-eye-ivory-1 but if you are looking for rain shoes maybe the others would be better.

So my take is I love the look of boat shoes, I know I can't pull them off. Maybe one day when I get some rocking legs.

Hope that helps! Thanks for reading the blog!
