Month in Review: Hot August Nights
I haven't made a Month in Review collage since May. June was spent in the hospital, then me wearing a sock on my arm to protect my mid-line catheter and the ended in Europe. And well July I I spent half the month not at home(8 days in Europe, 4 days in the hospital, 3 days in LA). So really there wasn't much to make a collage of. August was the first month since May I didn't end up back in the hospital (YAY!) and I was home for almost all of it (just a quick trip to Santa Cruz for our Anniversary. So here is a collage of my outfits from August and from the few days I was home in July.

Style Advice: Tights and Open Toe Shoes
I have received several emails and comments asking how to properly pair tights and open toed shoes. And since I am visual person I decided to address this topic in a post, complete with pictures. I am very particular about shoes and wearing the correct shoes for each season. I do though I have a few shoes, like my Cynthia Vincent Luella's that I feel are shoes I can wear year round. But most of my wedges and summer shoes I pack away for the summer, because I have a small closet and to me those shoes are unwearable during the fall and winter seasons.
What I look for when pairing tights with open toe shoes is shoe that is season appropriate, in color and in style. The shoe also must have some substance to it, personally I don't pair very stappy shoes with tights. Things I look for in open toes shoes to pair with tights are: Textures like Velvet and patent. Styles like Mary Janes and Oxfords, and darker winter color.
Some shoes I pair with tights are:
Open Toe Shoes I would not pair with tights: Anything with straw, cork, too strappy or an espadrille. All these shoes are too summery for pairing with tights.
You can always try shoes out and give it you best judgment as to how it looks. But I definitely don't think open toe shoes and tights is a combination that should be avoided. For myself it allows shoes like my Twelfth Street Cynthia Vincent Luella wedges to be extremely versatile. When I wore them in LA with tights my friend Wendy mentioned she never would have thought to pair them with tights but it works.
Here are my picks for shoes you can wear with tights now and later without tights when the weather warms up! (I included a variety of price options)

First row :Forever 21, Joie, Joie, Tory Burch, Jessica Simpson
Secon Row: Lamb, Oxford, Pour La Victoire, Jeffery Campbell, Dolce Vita
Thrid Row: Forever 21, Jessica Simpson, Jessica Simpson, Forever 21, Forever 21

Things I love: Wearing My Heart on My Sleeve
In elementary school I loved to be festive. I dressed up for every single holiday and I went all out. My mom would even paint a little designs on my cheek. A heart for Valentines day, a red nose for Christmas, a shamrock for St. Patrick's day. You name the holiday and I was celebrating it. Johnny Apple Seed Day? You know I had an apple on my cheek! Well that festive feeling is still with me, although I have out grown face paint. Although I am not a big Valentines day fan, I do love the excuse to wear little tiny heart prints. Forever 21 is the perfect place to pick up cheap festive pieces. The other day I stopped in (while grabbing the bracelet for the giveaway) and I picked up a few festive pieces for myself. The retro bra and double ring are not available online but the necklace I snagged is available here.
I actually wish this bra was a bikini top, i love the retro vibe it has!
And some other pieces that I think are too cute for Valentines day. Click on items to be linked.
I also picked out some things I thought would be cute for a Valentines day Date night!
Yay for being festive! And again thank for all you sweet comments in the give away post, I can't reply in there but I have read every single comment and I thank you all very much!
