Look of the Day: Mixing High and Low End Pieces

Today I went to meeting at a local magazine to participate in a round table discussion about Style and Fashion. I was honored to be invited by the Magazine's Style editor.

It was a really nice to meet other local ladies who shared an interest in fashion and shopping just like me. We discussed fashion east of San Francisco and what makes our region distinct.

One reoccurring theme in our discussion was pairing high and low end items and remixing pieces. Both of which are popular topics on blogs. I think the outfit I wore to the meeting represented both of those points.
In this outfit I mixed a Joie Tunic with $11 h&m pants and nine west boots.

The last time I wore this Joie top was when I paired it with a red printed mini skirt and kitten heels. Its all about buying classic closet essentials and in my book that just happens to mean a leopard silk tunic -- I guarantee I will wear this thing for years to come.

Look of the Day: Well Hello...Kitty

After four days of wearing pajamas and watching old movies, what's girl to do? Get dressed up of course! I took a cue from the old Hollywood Glamor movies I have been watching and tried out the old but new trend of kitten heels.

Now I know most people ahem Miss JennaB scoff at the idea of kitten heels but after all the classic movies I watched, they started to seem charming to me. So I decided to give them a go around. I upped the sex kitten aspect of lone inch heels by wearing a short hemline and a leopard print top. Rrwar!

Despite the absence of three or four (or more) inches that I usually look for in heels, the kitten heels still surprisingly elongated my legs in a way that flats cannot (I despise flats).

So ladies if you find 4 inch heels played out or painful I urge to give the little kitties a try, but remember you must still elongate your legs when wearing them. You can achieve this by pairing them with something high waisted or a short hemline.

Oh darlings, Bette, Marilyn and Audrey would all be so proud.

Of course Miss Pennie lane came out to play!

Look of the Day: Game On

Yesterday was Game One of the Post Season, so you know I rocked Giants gear. Warning: I will not be wearing normal clothes until the playoffs are over. Literally today I am wearing a tutu and a Giants Tee. So if you follow me on Facebook or Twitter you can see what I am wearing {or wore}.

But before the playoff's started this is what I wore. A perfect Fall/Summer hybrid outfit, and the mark of the first appearance of leggings this season.

One of the things on my Fall wardrobe to-do list is to organize my legging drawer -- yes I wear them that often. Here I paired them with a Joie tunic, Forever 21 slouchy sweater and my Cynthia Vincent Wedges.

Look of the Day: I Believe in the Church of Baseball

Baseball has been occupying my week nights and my weekends, off days are the worst. The Giants are only a game out, so every game these days is a big one. It's been awhile since we've had a September that even felt that we had a chance.
The games these days have me falling back in love with sport all over again. In fact after the game is over and Baseball Tonight has run it's course, I've been putting Bull Durham on just to get to get my baseball fix. There's only a few weeks left of the season so I've got to soak it up!
Pennie Lane is a big Giants fan as well. She cant wait for tonight's game either.
How much is that Kitty in the window?
For dressier look you can see my Joie French postcard dress paired with wedges here.

Things I Love: Sandals, Sunnies and Giveaway Winners!

Being home in the morning is not something I get to do often so today I took full advantage of being home during the morning sample sales! I always cringe when I see the amazing prices and pieces that I miss at Gilt and Haute look. Well I lucked out today because one of my favorite brands Joie, had a sale going on today on Gilt and I snagged a few pairs of Joie shoes, hopefully some of them workout. I also snagged a really cool VPL bra, I have a new theory on bra's that I should address one of these days, especially after Lynn's question today. All in all I was stoked to finally be able to join in on the sample sales that I get emails about daily! LOL
Other perks of the day included being spoiled by Casey not only did he make me breakfast and lunch (a stretch for a non cook like him) he also gave me a sweet pair of Tom Ford sunglasses to perk me up! I guess taking it easy isn't all that bad.
Package from Neiman Marcus!
Don't mine the just out of the shower hair.
Tom Ford Liliana'sI'm hoping one or more of these work out for my trip to Europe.

Look of the Day: French Fried

So my plan of catching up on blog reading and blog updating didn't exactly go as planned. A friend needed to talk which ended up taking up a good amount of time. In any case this Joie French Postcard dress is definitely going to be one of my favorites for the summer. I always know a item of clothing is a hit when I have girls coming up to me asking where I got it, which is exactly what happened when we strolled through a local Art festival Saturday. I see this Joie piece as a versatile top/dress that I plan on wearing many ways and the print on it is just too cute!

I didn't sleep too well last night, not a great way to start the week off. I'm hoping I can pull it together and catch up on sleep and blog stuff today.
Oh and one last time don't forget to check out my current giveaway, it ends tonight!

Look of the Day: Oh the Hills are Alive with The Sound of Griswold

No other Movie quote has combined with Casey and I quite so well. I was a Sound of Music(al) Freak and he was just a regular 90's kid. Together we equal Glee. In any case we (FINALLY) booked our Europe trip!! We are flying into Frankfurt and out of Venice, with some random travels and some serious Prague time clocked in along the way, I can't wait!
After my days of feeling vexed by the weather, it forced me into a desperate (or was that rational) situation? I went shopping and wow, that felt good. I had been hanging onto gift cards since Christmas and today, I finally cashed some of those in. I felt like Cher in Clueless trying to clear her head and I sure am feeling a fresh start now. I even broke out my Cynthia Vincent for Target wedges and my White Dress Shop tank. You know, in Honor of my Giveaway!
Feeling the weather turn.
My Goods. Let me just say, everyone needs some J Brand Jeggings. The Joie French Postcard dress will be seen often as well.
I tried to get a picture of them all, but Pennie Lane was not agreeing (at least Nicole gets a Pennie Pic for Boots!)
umm OMG YAY for Friday!!

Look of The Day: Mixmaster Mike, Get on The Mic

Mixing prints is going to be huge this spring. I plan on doing lots of print mixing but today I just dipped my toes in the waters. I mixed stripes and flowers, which is a very easy mixed pattern to do. I plan to do some bolder pattern mixing soon but I think outfit demonstrates how easy it can be to do, with much effort at all.
My cardigan is Lauren Conrad for Kohls but this one is very similar in price and style, and I could see so many things with this black and oatmeal one and in one in variety of colors here, the green and white would be perfect for spring!
My top is an urban top (here in a different color)and smilar here( which I also have in the vintage floral color)

Look of the Day: And the Winner is...

The fabulous and fashionable Nicolecrab who probably doesn't even need Nina Garcia's Help, but I know she enjoys collecting fashion books as much I do. I hope Nicole enjoys the book and bracelet {email me your address at ambersnotebook@gmail.com}

And because posts are always better with pictures here are two outfits I wore this weekend. These pictures are old but I am really trying to get the most of my winter clothes before spring really arrives.
On Saturday night I re-wore this outfit. We went out a restaurant where our friend is the head chef and he served us up Iron Chef style. It was pretty sweet, unfortunately I did bring my camera, because the food and presentation was amazing!I wore my Joie twiggy boots (which are now on sale), Rebeca Taylor Tunic and leather jacket similar here.
And On Friday night I wore this outfit: My Torn Tunic and Ash Olivia Foldover boots and my Forever 21 stud bracelet (the bracelet from the giveaway can be found here and similar version here).

Thanks for all the giveaway entries, I am still blown away by how many entries there were!

Look of the Day: Made My Day

I had a really good day today and I hope you did to. A weeks ago my good friend Shana encouraged me to enter my New Year's Eve outfit in a contest for Lauren Merkin, so I did and today I found out I won!! I am so excited, I have never won anything like this before. I also don't own any Lauren Merkin handbags so I am so excited for my new clutch to arrive! I can't wait to rock it! Needless to say I was smiling all day because of the win AND the sweet comments the Lauren Merkin team said about my New Year's look.
My New Year's Look: Alice and Olivia Key hole dress, Christian Louboutin heels (similar here) and my Gma's vintage DVF coat (similar Juicy one here).
Still stoked off this!
And my look of the day is rather boring compared to that outfit. I'm kind of in Winter rut right now. I have been trying to wear my hair in Braids these days.
I wore an old Joie tunic top, mini skirt I got from F21 for about $5 and my cynthia vincent wedges. I am SO over my winter clothes and am itching for spring!
I can't wait to share pictures of the clutch when it gets here!

Look of the Day: Pretty Python

Yesterday I went to support a friend who had lost her grandma at Her Grandma's celebration of life. Which turned into us getting pizza and having a mini reunion of old friends at the local bar behind the pizza place. One of my oldest (actually she is my oldest friend, our Mom's were pregnant together) just moved back to California after being out of state since college so it was really nice to spend time withe her. Casey has a cold today so we are having a lazy Sunday watching the Patriots getting embarrassed, that first quarter!?? WOW!
Anyways here was my outfit from Yesterday:
Joie Boots, Parker top, COH Jeans and Bracelet from F21
Hope you have a great Sunday!
If you have a minute here is an article I wrote about the snakeskin trend.

Look of the Day: You are on Pandora

We spent our Friday spending time with our Brother and Sister in law. They are some of our favorite people but are sometimes hard to get alone. We went out to eat and then out to see Avatar. If you have $20, and 4 hours to spare you NEED to see this movie in the theaters! I am usually a "wait until it comes out on DVD" girl but I HIGHLY recommend seeing this in the 3D version. Visually it was unlike any other movie I have ever seen and blew me away, seriously!
Rocking a floral skirt, my Joie leather jacket and Nine west boots.
Pennie hopped in for a shot!
And the outfit.

Yay for the weekend!

Look of the Day: Catch Up

No not my beloved Ketchup, although I did get a Ketchup Cookbook for Christmas. But today I am playing catch up with my blog posts. This is actually yesterday's look of the day. Pretty much we spent the day on relax mode after the Holiday. We watched Good Fellows, and then hung out with some of Casey's (and now my) best friends. We spent the evening watching Tosh.O, mastering Jedi Mind Training, testing our Jedi Knowledge and practicing magic tricks. Don't we sound like a bunch of geeks. We aren't I swear, we just like Star Wars lol.

The Ketchup Cook book.
Some of the pictures in it are really cool.
This is pretty much true and reminds me of Pretty Women when Vivian pulls the ketchup packet out of her purse at the nice fancy restaurant.
