Look of the Day: Pennie Lane is in My Ears and in My Eyes

Happy Monday Everyone. I hope your weekend was a good one. Mine was a bit of a roller coaster. It started off nice on Friday night when we headed to a Warriors game with some of our friends, they lost but it was still a good game. Then Saturday morning right before I was leaving for Yoga I noticed Pennie Lane missing. While Pennie is an indoor cat we typically let her out for some exercise and sunshine weekend mornings. She has never left the yard before, and doesn't attempt to even climb the fences but on Saturday she helped herself to a little adventure. We were mainly worried because she didn't have a collar on, and like I said she had never left the yard before. We spent most of Saturday scouring the neighborhood and searching for our missing kitty. Silly little kitty gave us a good scare, but luckily she showed up Sunday morning at about 5 am covered in mud - like crazy amounts of mud.

Thank you to all my Facebook and Twitter friends who were worried about Pennie and I and sent thoughts our way!

Look of the Day: I Believe in the Church of Baseball

Baseball has been occupying my week nights and my weekends, off days are the worst. The Giants are only a game out, so every game these days is a big one. It's been awhile since we've had a September that even felt that we had a chance.
The games these days have me falling back in love with sport all over again. In fact after the game is over and Baseball Tonight has run it's course, I've been putting Bull Durham on just to get to get my baseball fix. There's only a few weeks left of the season so I've got to soak it up!
Pennie Lane is a big Giants fan as well. She cant wait for tonight's game either.
How much is that Kitty in the window?
For dressier look you can see my Joie French postcard dress paired with wedges here.
Joie French Postcard dress, random belt, Report sandals.
Let's go Giants!

Party Prep: Do They Still Really Have Prizes in Cracker Jack Boxes?

Go big or Go home is often my motto. I've mentioned countless times before that when I do something like to I go all out. I also love to document every, little element, 500 pictures in one night occurs often. Yes, my poor over worked hard-rive is crammed with pictures, but that's not stopping me.
So when I host party, last minute or not, I like to include as many fun details as I can. But that doesn't necessarily mean running out to buy all new items. So I made a list of all things Breakfast at Tiffany's and tried to include as many elements as I could, and by using as much as I could from my own stock. From cigarette holders, to Cracker Jacks, to the movie sound track, I tried to cover all my ground.
Here are some of the fun details I included at my
Breakfast At Tiffany's Party:

By the door I filled a basket with cigarette holders, cat eye glasses, necklaces, turbins and the cat mask like the one Holly steals. I like people to grab things and get in the mood!
It's a great way to get a party started and the $1.oo cigarette holders from the party store were the only thing I purchased.
Holly even drank her milk out of her champagne coupes so you know we busted these out!
Cracker Jacks with Tiffany blue ribbons served as decorations and favors.
Ode to Holly of course.
Flowers are always a must. And they are a green and cheap way to decorate.
Ribbons are also a great way to incorporate color.
My Mom made trivia games for me.
And using her graphic design skills, she made them pretty!!
She also made me a Amber & Co party sign!!
Books are another way to decorate on the cheap.
I used Truman Capote's Three and Sam Wasson's Fifth Ave at 5 am to add to the everything Breakfast At Tiffany's theme.
And all cellphones had to go in the suitcase, because that is where Holly kept her phone.
And Pennie Lane ended the night on cue.
She kept running outside, and forced all us girls to frantically yell "Cat! Cat! Ohh Cat!!"
Silly Pennie Lane! And thanks to all the lovely ladies who entered my current giveaway !

Look of the Day: Sock Hop

Today was my most active day so far, there were parts of the day when I almost felt normal, almost. I spent the morning with my sister, she has been doing a fabulous job taking care of me, and I am so happy she is in town for the weekend! After my usual 12:00-2:00 nap Casey took me downtown to get my Lung exercise walk in for the day!! It was so nice to be out and about for a bit, even if I was kind of out of it.
After some walking we met my Mom, Sister and Gma for some late afternoon salads out on the patio. It was the perfect weather to sit outside, eat veggies and spend time with my family. Eating out seems to be the best activity to get me out of the house for a bit and honestly with all that is going on neither Casey or I have the energy or desire to cook, so thank you Mom for treating us to dinner.
When we got back home Casey's Mom, Sheila, came over to deliver a special care package/birthday presents. I am so lucky to have an amazing Mother in Law. She reads my blog and always knows EXACTLY what to get me. Sheila missed out on having her own daughter so she loves to spoil my sister in law and I with fun girly things. She brought over the cutest package for me, including fancy new socks to spruce up my catheter cover!! She didn't think it was right for me to rock an ugly cover and ruin all my outfits, love it!
Casey's Grandma sent over some feathers and sparkles, because I love that sort of thing.
My new socks arm bands to be!
And a treasure box...
Full of pink!
Sheila set me up with fun girly stuff and all sorts of accessories to spruce up my arm bands.
I may just be starting a trend here.
And of course some get well activities and my own little bug to keep, because all the bugs in my body need to go away =)
And some lovely Gerbera daisy prints so I am never without my favorite flowers!
Rocking one of my new arms bands courtesy of Sheila.
It's hard to tell in this picture, but it's purple and it's a bit ruffly!
Miss Pennie Lane needed some attention.
I'll be back to wearing real outfits one of these days, I promise.
Rocking an old Urban Outfitters Vest, and my Jbrand Jegging jeans.
Seriously if you don't have a pair of jeggings yet, you need some! I don't know how I lived without these things before.
Yay for Pink, Mother in Laws and sweet arm bands.

Look of the Day: Pennie Loafer

Although I suspect I will be be lounging most of this weekend, it will be so nice to wear anything but a hospital gown, that thing will surely not be missed. And even though I was not wearing an outfit today, throwing on a snazzy headband, like the Forever 21 one I wore today, made my sweats feel a little bit more like and outfit. Well anything feels more like an outfit then a hospital gown. But my statement headband didn't encroach on my comfort level but it added just enough pizazz to make my sweats and tee shirts feel like a quasi-outfit and had me feeling ready for any visitors who popped by.
Oh How I missed this place..
Pennie Lane was waiting for me.
Casey was nice enough to have the house nice and clean for my arrival home. And my girly room looked nothing like I had left it. I don't know how he worked this magic.
We just chilled, and had a nice afternoon and evening loafing around.
I sure missed her!
Rocking some juicy snap pocket pants, American Apparel Tee Shirt, Similar Forever 21 twisted headband and a complimentary hospital bracelet.
Yay for headbands that make your feel put together, the perfect tee and a blog community full of positive supportive ladies!!

Look of the Day: Behind Blue Eyes

Casey took me out to dinner today, Yay! My outfit inspiration for dinner was a recent clearance shoe purchases from Marshalls, and by recent purchases, I mean this afternoon. How these made it to the 7-7 1/2 clearance rack, I don't know. But I was sure was happy when I popped in to kill a few minutes, and came across these beauties. I paired the Dolce Vita Pumps with my H&M top and COh jeans, love. I have to say, I think these shoes will be seen often.
Got to love clearance finds.
And I love Kitties too! Pennie Lane the most!
I heart shoes too.
H&M top, COH Jeans, and Dolce Vita pumps.
Chinese Laundry for $20 and Dolce Vita for $30 . Thank you Marshalls!
And a question for my makeup experts:
I am wearing a blush/nude colors to a wedding this weekend and I would love any specific eyeshadow (brand/color) suggestions for a blue eyed girl with red undertones. My tried and true color is Maybelline Silken Taupe, because is what I wore when I lastt experimented with eyeshadow...when I was 15. I am CLUELESS!

Look of the Day: My Eyes are Closing in a Nap like State

Last night we went out to support our good friend, Cyrus, at a Local Dive bar's Open Mic night . Now there are few people I would leave the house at 9:00pm on a weeknight for and even fewer that I would go to this dive bar for, but Cyrus is one of kind friend and we love to support him. Not matter the creepy bar and how much death metal I had to listen to before hearing some decent jams, we had a great time supporting our friend and his band. Even if my "my eyes are {now} closing in a nap like state" (one of my favorite quotes from my Gma's friend Olga) from staying out so late. Feel free to use this quote often, you will be surprised how frequently you can use and how perfectly it explains your tired state.
Pennie Lane came out to say hi.
I rocked a cashmere scarf gifted to me by my Step Mom Rena, a K. Allyn Tshirt and my go to Frye Deborah boots.
And my Hinge by Nordstrom Leather jacket.
Definitely my kind of place when this is the top shelf:
And Jager is their house wine ;)
I am all but certain I was the only person there wearing pastel nail polish.

Look of the Day: Cold Shoulder

Still feeling like P!NK, Lady Gaga and Beyonce got the cold shoulder last night... but then again it willprobably only going to push them even farther. Beyonce and Lady Gaga did though inspire me to rock some strong shoulders today. I seriously love this trend, and I expect it to be even more accessible and popular next fall. If you haven't tried it out yet, I suggest you give it a shot, I think it is very flattering.
Rocking a blazer from Ebay, Lauren Conrad top, and Chinese Laundry boots from a few seasons ago.

Pennie wanted some love.

I also rocked my Lanvin DIY necklace today. I kind of forgot about it until I saw J's Look for Less version! Speaking of DIY's I need to get on my list of DIY's I want to make! And thank you to Andi from Saltwater Dreams who was so sweet and put me on her Easy on the Eyes list! Thank you Andi for including me on your list!

Look of the Day: Gratitude

Thank you to everyone that read my post from this morning and sent Erynn your thoughts and prayers. Today I wanted to wear some green in memory of Patrick, unfortunately my closet is not Saint Patrick's Day friendly but I did my best finding green. I don't know if was the weather or just the memory of last year still so fresh in all our minds and hearts but the day had a gloomy feel to it. Hopefully the weather brightens up soon! I did have a snugly kitty who kept me nice and warm despite the cold and gloominess.
I really need to re-cover my bench! I am still debating on the perfect Amy Bulter pattern.Pennie says hi!
Rocking green.
I am wearing an Elizabeth and James tunic from last year, Rodarte for Target bow belt (worn backwards) and my Ash Olivia boots.
Only two more days till I am in L.A. with Wendy! Our hotel is hosting the Golden Globe Gifting suite!!! I am hoping we see some good celebs!
...Clearly I am not working on limiting my exclamation points.
