Ever feel like an originator? Or the starter of a trend? This June while I was traveling in Beijing China I found this AMAZING panda hat. When I saw this Panda hat and knew I had to have it. Not only did it make me feel so Ben Stiller in Tropic Thunder but I knew it would be the perfect accessory to wear to SF Giants games this season. The SF Giants star player this year, Pablo Sandoval, currently holds the nick name of the (Kung Fu) Panda. Since the first time in June when I wore the hat to the park it was a hit. People would take pictures of the hat and everyone asked what stand I bought it at. When I told them I bought it in China I received many puzzled looks. Soon enough the hats were being sold outside the park and panda hats were soon the norm. I sure didn't invent this amazing hat but I believe I may have had something to do with the panda hat trend at At&t park. I think I was the O.G. ;)

She's Crafty

Here is a sneak peak of my craft/girly/dress up room. It is still in the works but here is a sneak peak of *my* room. It houses my area for Martha Stewart wanna be crafts, my piano (which I am trying to get back into) and best of all my "party" dresses and shoes! I still need to attempt my best HollyBerry white on some pieces to complete my room. Desk and Trunk from Home Goods.

Red Hot

Today started off with coffee at Bread and Cocoa in San Francisco with bloggers Kath, Jenna, Maggie, Linda and other new friends. It was nice to meet a group of girls that share some of the same interests as me. Like REAL food. Kath shared Nayosa coupons with us, so nice of her! Kath and I also chatted about our Canon Rebels, which I was able to put to use later in the day.

After my coffee in San Francisco I headed to The D'Elegance Car Show. It is a great car show that supports a wonderful cause, research for Parkinson's. And my Dad and my step Mom were showing their car at the show as well. So my afternoon was spent in the heat, in a sea of Ferrari red. To get out of the heat we took a cake break to celebrate my Step mom's birthday. The cake was a replica of one of the cars at the show. Here are some images from the show.

Look of the Day: Mad for Plaid

Loving Plaid this season. It is 1oo degress outside so today I am mixing plaid in my date night outfit with this Free People dress. I am also loving this extremely cheap forever 21 bag I picked up randomly one day. Have a great Saturday evening!

Engagement Party

Last Saturday I attended an engagement party for my best friend's sister. It was a great opportunity to pull out my camera and practice taking some pictures. Without posting pictures of guests, here are some pictures I captured at the party. The setting was gorgeous. They had a great window above the party where I was able to capture some really cool pictures from above. The sunset at the end of the evening was stunning. It made a perfect background for some portrait type shots.
Adorable table settings.

A view from the over head shots. The bride to be.
Yummy Food and Drinks.

A peak at the sunset that made an amazing background.

Friday Night Fun

Casey and I are incredibly competitive with each other. We take score while watching jeopardy (if there is a science category he smokes me, if there is a pop culture category I pad my score). When I took the CBEST several years ago he took too. Just to see who got a better score!! FYI: He had me in Math, I took the writing section, and it was a draw on the reading section. We always fight over who is best at everything or who knows the most trivia. We often have impromptu "competitions " to see who is the "best". Recently while watching an episode of Hell's Kitchen I declared the taste test competition easy. Basically contestants were blind folded and asked to name what food they were sampling. I was astounded when constants could not identify foods such as avocados. Casey decided my boasting was in need of a challenge and challenged me to a taste off. I batted a thousand in this competition. But then again I do the grocery shopping ;) I can only imagine our face off tonight will revolve around baseball stats or something of the sorts. Oh as we type we are already seeing who can name the most Willie Mac winners, SF Giants trivia.... Yes this is how we spend our Friday nights.

Click pic to enlarge and see the tastes that I mastered, it was harder then I thought!!

Autumn in the Heat

Sunflowers, soup and seasonal decorations can even make 90 degrees feel like fall. I just got this totally adorable Autumn bunting from etsy seller Funkyshique. Her bunting is AMAZING, check it out. There is just something I love about bunting and this mirror usually serves as my seasonal decoration focal point. Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers and I love having them around this time of year. I pick them up at my local farmers market, weekly. I love how long they last and the splash of color and the Autumn-ness they bring to my house. While at the farmers market I also picked up some local veggies (leeks, carrots, potatoes, celery and onions) to make my favorite "comfort" soup. I am simmering up some veggies right now for my vegan, oil free leek and potato soup, that I freeze for when I pick up a fall or winter cold. Between the aroma's of soup and the decorations it ALMOST feels like fall in this heat!

Art & Wine

It's that time of the year again. Autumn! I love everything about it, the leaves turning colors, and breaking out boots and sweaters (I can pretend it's cold in California when I have to blast the air conditioning). Also enjoying the fall festivals and activities. Oktoberfests, pumpkin patches, apple picking and Art and Wine festivals. The latter being in full force in Northern California right now. I love the unique crafts and jewelry treasures I find at Art and Wine fests. This usually marks the beginning of my Christmas shopping. Art and Wine festivals are the perfect place to find unique presents. This past weekend I enjoyed a local Art and Wine fest stroll with one of my best friends and her mom. We found some great treasures. One of our favorite booths was that of an artist who made the most amazing pieces out of wire. His pieces were so original we knew we had to buy something. When I found the "Love" sign language piece, I knew I found the perfect Christmas present for my dad.

My Dad has always traveled for business. When I was growing up he was away weekly, since he was away so often he would send me postcards from everywhere he traveled to. I soon got used to receiving 2, or 3 postcards a week. To this day I look forward to the postcards I receive weekly from my Dad. On the rare occasion he is not traveling he will send me a postcard from the city where he lives (a mere 45 minutes from where I live). Every postcard he has ever sent me is signed with "Dad" and a sketch of a the sign language sign for Love. This wire piece made by Stein Hoiland was the perfect for my Dad. Check out his website his pieces are amazing. Although the pics online do not do his pieces justice.
