Sweet Hearts

Being February and all, I decided to pull out some Valentines decor. I only put a few things up but all the red sparkly things make me smile!

And speaking of sweet things, we made the Amish Friendship Bread. It was nice and cinnamony, just how I like it.
Casey went alittle heavy with the sugar on top!
Thanks so much Sheila it was so fun to make fun and yummy!

Things I love: Book Stacks

I love buying books and as much as I would love to have a Kindle one day there is just something about stacking books that appeals to my eye. I love to stack books around my house for cheap and easy ways to add charter to my home. I have stack of books in almost every room of my house and rotate them with the seasons or my mood. Here are some of my book stacks that I have piled around the house.
Beautiful Classics.

They can help a room form a theme. These are the books I have in the Dude room (too bad they are all my books, sans the Arnold one).
Fashion Books are some of my favorite to collect! I have many of them that I rotate to inspire me.
You know I have Barbie books!

Christmas Decor: Hot Pink Sparkles!

Since our regular Christmas tree is very traditional I decided this year I wanted a tree for my new room to decorate a little nontraditional. I wanted something totally girly, kind of like my Mom's Barbie tree, which I may also have to blog about. Well I went Hot pink! I think I still want to add some feathers and bows but here is what she looks like thus far. Pink and sparkly!
Fun ornaments. I need some small ones to fill it up.
My stocking from Faded Plains. I may remove the red string and add a Hot Pink hook!
Feather wreath, Pennie likes it.
This room just makes me smile =)
I still need a rug and I need to hang some prints I have ready for the walls. I also want to cover the Piano Bench, get a desk chair and maybe some new curtains. I do like the sheerness of the ones I have for now.
All lit up!

Fall Splendor

Tomorrow marks a great day to reflect on everything you have to be thankful for in you life. I am loving how at the end of every post this month Chelsea has been adding a Gratitude piece noting one thing she is thankful for everyday. Maybe I should make a list as well. Not only does tomorrow mark a day of reflection and gratitude, it means (to me) that is the begining of the Holiday season (hey at least I'm better then Macys' and wait till after Thanksgiving and Halloween!) On Friday I will start to pack up my fall decor and head to the Christmas tree lot and begin decking the halls. As much as I love Chrismas and it it's cherry decoration I will miss fall's pumpkins, gourds and flowers. So today I am embracing all things fall and enjoying them while they are still around.

My gourds are enjoying their last days of being the center of attention.
My gorgeous gerbers and sunflowers will soon be replaced by holly and posinsetta's.
Fall Farmers Markets finds are some of my favorite, at least some of these guys will be around a little longer.
Vitamin C is in full force in fall and winter, Mother nature knows we need to stock up on this time of year. My lemon tree is in full bloom! If anyone has lemon recipes, send them over!
I'm sure I will be back tonight with a look of the day post. The Night before Thanksgiving serves as the unoffical High School Reunion at the local bar scene. Although I will not partake in bar hopping I may meet up with some friends coming into to town before they hit up the bar debauchery.

I hope everyone has safe travels and a wonderful Holiday.

On the Hunt: Shabby Chic Chandelier

I am currently trying to finish up my girly room. I am looking for the perfect shabby chic chandelier to add some ambiance and illumination to the room. I think a chandelier would be the perfect way to light up that room. I would prefer a vintage one but I will take anything that will work in the room. I haven't come across the perfect one yet but here are some images of chandeliers I could see in my room.

Pumpkin 3.14

This summer I decided to include pumpkins in my vegetable garden. I thought it wold be cool to have my own home grown pumpkins in time for Halloween. The plants grew like crazy, almost like weeds. Their vines curled out and over, far beyond the edges of my vegetable garden. Unfortunately my gardener thought this was a problem that needed to be fixed. After the pumpkin massacre I was left with one lone survivor. She's doing rather well, considering. It's doesn't look like she is going to grow up to be a Jack-O-Lantern, I think she is destined to be a pie. A pumpkin pie.
On a happier note here is a picture of one of my herb crates filled with sunflowers. These herb crates are an idea stolen from The Lettered Cottage and purchased at Home Goods. Sunflowers just make me happy.

In with the new

I finally got around to making a blog header and adding all my best blogging friends to my list. I hope I didn't forget anyone. If I forgot you, I didn't mean too and let me know so I can add you =) And if you would like to be removed let me know as well.

Oh and in case you aren't the crafty type I came across these already glittered Martha Stewart Halloween pieces. She even has the green skulls that I posted about earlier this week. I kinda of want the creepy crawlies! I may have to glitter up some of those!

Hope you are having a Wonderful Wednesday!

Sp0oKy SpArkLy

Autumn is such a fun season to decorate for. This past weekend I broke out my Martha Stewart sparkly decorations. I had so much fun the year that Erynn, Jen and I (among others) went crazy for the Martha Stewart glitter kits from Micheal's. Who doesn't love glitter and sparkles? My skulls look perfectly spooky and sparkly displayed in my cake stand given to me from my SIL Rebecca. Loving this time of year!

Faded Plains

After seeing the Faded Plains on The Lettered Cottage I knew I had to order some of their items. I picked up this some starfish, a vintage enamel house number and a few gifts as well ;) My items came super fast and were packed in such darling ways, they even sent a thank you package with my order! Such great service. I wasn't quite sure where I would use the enamel numbers, I will probably move it around. But for now I added it to my lamp that was rather boring. Check out their blog and shop. Such cute items to add cute and subtle details.

She's Crafty

Here is a sneak peak of my craft/girly/dress up room. It is still in the works but here is a sneak peak of *my* room. It houses my area for Martha Stewart wanna be crafts, my piano (which I am trying to get back into) and best of all my "party" dresses and shoes! I still need to attempt my best HollyBerry white on some pieces to complete my room. Desk and Trunk from Home Goods.

Autumn in the Heat

Sunflowers, soup and seasonal decorations can even make 90 degrees feel like fall. I just got this totally adorable Autumn bunting from etsy seller Funkyshique. Her bunting is AMAZING, check it out. There is just something I love about bunting and this mirror usually serves as my seasonal decoration focal point. Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers and I love having them around this time of year. I pick them up at my local farmers market, weekly. I love how long they last and the splash of color and the Autumn-ness they bring to my house. While at the farmers market I also picked up some local veggies (leeks, carrots, potatoes, celery and onions) to make my favorite "comfort" soup. I am simmering up some veggies right now for my vegan, oil free leek and potato soup, that I freeze for when I pick up a fall or winter cold. Between the aroma's of soup and the decorations it ALMOST feels like fall in this heat!

Double Duty

For my centerpieces on my coffee table I like to have fresh flowers. For my kitchen table I like to use fresh fruits and vegetables. Lemons are usually a main stay in my cake stand. They are gorgeous plus I use lemons all the time while cooking. Artichokes in a big bowl are pretty as well. Today I have two pineapples framing my mainstay lemons. I love that gorgeous fruit can double as an eco-friendly and healthy centerpiece. PLus they smell wonderful as well. Raw, Green and gorgeous!

Spring Fever

I like change. I like to move the furniture constantly so it is never in the same spot. I always add pop of color for different seasons. For winter time I have hints of red, now that is spring I like to add hints of blues and greens. I switch my lampshades, pillows cover and switch my frames from black to white. All easy to ways to change the deco for spring.

Last spring my friend Holly gave me the great idea to cover books in spring colored covers. I cover all my red and dark colored books with green, white and silver paper. It is a cheap and easy to switch things up and it makes such a difference.

Spring pillow changes.
White accents, I need a blue candle.
Love spring flowers.
