Morning Refreshment

I'm not a big breakfast girl, but I know I need something to eat or it will mess up my diet for the rest of the day. One thing I do love to make in the morning is smoothies. Smoothies are full of super foods and antioxidants, they fill me up and I feel good after drinking them.

These 2 smoothies are variations on Gwenyth Paltrow's smoothies from her DETOX menu, listed on her website GOOP. The first one is almond milk, blueberries, a big scoop of vitamineral green powder and some spinach. The second was today's breakfast ( which came out very green) it had mango, almond milk, vitamineral powder and some spinach. I made them in a regular old blender, but I really want a vitamix! I need to pick up some mangos because this morning's smoothie was great!

Turn off the Lights

Only because it has been stuck in head since yesterday. Nelly Furtado Turn off the lights, feat. Timerberland. I rocked out to that while I got ready for the city to celebrate Jen's birthday once again, she likes her birthdays to last a week, month, you know ;)
Happy Saturday! Hope you have fun plans too.

Earth Hour.

This Saturday at 8:30 (in whatever time zone you are in) is Earth hour. Land marks around the world with turn off their lights for one hour. Around here, the Bay Bridge and Golden Gate will turn off their decorative lights. As well, many buildings and businesses in the city turn off their lights for an hour, sometimes for the whole night. Restaurants last year had fun holding romantic candle lit dinners all over the city, by only having lights on in the kitchen for the night. Surrounding cities participate in their own way as well. Turning off you lights off symbolizes your dedication to reducing carbon emissions and casts your "vote" for earth. The organizers behind Earth Hour have a goal of reaching 1 billion votes (people participating by turning off lights). Is your area participating?

We participated in this last year by turning off our lights and electronics for the night. We lit candles and played board games (Okay fine) I'm sure had my lap top on but not plugged in!

So vote Earth and turn off your lights (ok Nelly Furtado stuck in my head now) this Saturday night for an hour or more....... Happy Friday!

Bunny Ears

Tonight we had my BFF Jen over to have a mini birthday celebration, before the real celebration in the city this weekend. Jen has been a BFF of mine since high school. She was a junior, I was a senior. It was her birthday the night of the spring high school dance and she was having a pre dance get ready/birthday party. Some friends of mine were going to get ready at her house so I went along. I wasn't feeling my dress so Jen left me borrow something, we immediatly clicked. We were being quite silly and decided we would sport bunny ears (it was almost EASTER) to the dance, we still do not know why we did this. We pranced around the high school dance with our bunny ears on, having a great time. Our friends wondered about our instant friendship, and probably wondered why we had bunny ears on, but it just worked. We have been BFF's since. Maybe I will pick up some bunny ears for this years celebration.... Happy Birthday Jen!

Pretty for my Kitty

I love etsy, I could many hours searching for all the goodies that people have for sale on there. My most recent purchase is a tag for my kitty from Tiny Tokens Designs which I just love! It is so cute, just perfect for Pennie (my BF gave her the nick name Lola LOL!). It sort of matches the "C" I wear on my neck made by esty seller amycornwell. SO many fun things on etsy, and I have only begun my obsession with it.

LOL just came across THIS randomness!!

If you have any favorite sellers or items I would love to know!

Nibbles for the day

I am more of a nibbler then a big meal eater. I nibbled my breakfast (blueberries, other half of my orange) as I threw my lunch for the day together. Today I will be nibbling on my orange, yum! Not as red as yesterday. Some cashews, an apple, I will be trying out a free sample of Quakers Mini delights and a naan spinach pizza. I forgot tomatos at the store..grrr. So I had hard time coming up with something to make for lunch, apprantly my lunches revovle around tomatoes. Out of this frustration came my naan pizza idea. I get my naan from a little Afghan market they make faboulous fresh naan and pitas. Seemed like a good pizza crust base for me.

Last minute I decided on a tea. I didn' need it but I felt like something warm. It is also another free sample. Today's flavor is Himilayan Apple Spice. It smells devine. And I just love the fortune cookie like tag.

Have a fun day nibbiling =)

Spring Break

Yay! It is my spring break this week, but I still work so no vactions or anything fun for me. But it feels so relaxing to not have to worry about studying, researching and writing papers. I have a few plans for my extra time this week. I plan on doing some fun reading, spring cleaning, hitting up the gym a few extra times and bike ride if it warms up like last week.

And for Kelsey, a photobooth pic of me getting off work and pondering what to do with all my free time this week.

Orange you glad..

I just broke out my mid morning snack. I picked up these Tarocco oranges from Trader Joes yesterday. It is sweeter then a normal orange and not to mention very cool looking. Pretty yummy, I look forward to having these in my lunch all week.

Good Morning!

Started my day early, with some yogi tea and a at home yoga session. I love the little tags on yogi teas, they say the cutest things! A great way to start my Monday. Hope you start your week off nicely as well.

A trend??

Well..... not as bad as my photobooth addiction ;)

Let's make a Meal

Sundays are errands day. We always hit up the grocery store, usually Trader Joes. In my continuous effort to reduce my impact I have been meal planning, i use everything I buy and never throw away bad food when I meal plan. Meal planning has also reduced the amount I spend on groceries(which I track via Mint.com) it is fun to see that part of my pie chart smaller.

I plan our meals on Sundays for the week by looking at what I have on hand, what will go bad, and what our schedule for that week looks like. I also try to do my big shopping trip the first week of the month and then the weeks after are usually smaller. This weeks was pretty much a use up and leftover menu.

As I have mentioned before being a blackberry addict, I write my grocerey lists on my phone. It saves paper and I never forgot my list at home =).
And because she is a cutie...

To be or Not to Be

hmm what type of blogger am I?
This is my best fashion blogger attempt. Too bad it came out all blurry.Photobucket

Blessed

I have a fabulous sister in law, who I love so very much. We had a very fun time antiquing today. We found many wonderful treasures. I found so many vintage hats I loved, and modeled, maybe too much hat modeling. I think I need some more hats in my life. I left only with this awesome Easter egg stand for $4 that I cannot wait to fill with eggs! Thanks so much Rebecca, we have to go back next time I am there. XOXO

I blog, therefore I am

One of the main reasons I blog, is not because I have anything in particularly interesting to write about, but it's a place where I can post some of the many pictures I take. lol.

Here are some recent food pics I have taken, my best Kath impressions lol. For some reason I found these meals picture worthy, well I suppose I lack subjects to photograph so food is easy to shoot.

Typical lunch, veggie sandwich with more veggies and fruit of the side. In a reusable container ;)Mahi Mahi and jasmine rice

left over rice, stir fired with veggies

Only 3 more quarters to go!

Just finished up my quarter tonight and only 3 more Quarters to go till my Masters is complete. Feeling pretty good.

In honor of St. Patty's and in celebration of the quarter ending I made corned beef and cabbage for the husband. I'm not a fan of meat but I had some yummy potatoes and cabbage and in honor of a very special Patrick, a beer. Sending prayers to Erynn, Will, Reese and the rest of the fam.

Happy St. Patty's Day! XoXO

Spring Fever

I like change. I like to move the furniture constantly so it is never in the same spot. I always add pop of color for different seasons. For winter time I have hints of red, now that is spring I like to add hints of blues and greens. I switch my lampshades, pillows cover and switch my frames from black to white. All easy to ways to change the deco for spring.

Last spring my friend Holly gave me the great idea to cover books in spring colored covers. I cover all my red and dark colored books with green, white and silver paper. It is a cheap and easy to switch things up and it makes such a difference.

Spring pillow changes.
White accents, I need a blue candle.
Love spring flowers.
