Look of the Day: It's That Time of Year

In my arsenal of clothes I like to have pieces that are easy to throw on and easy to mix and match. Comfy sweaters and scarfs are easy pieces to grab and still look put together. And really can you ever have enough plaid? I think not.

This outfit was perfect to run holiday errands in and stay warm. I am really excited about the gift-baskets I am making this year, but they requires lots of running around and hunting for specific items. All to make them more personal, my dear.

The scarf just made me feel so festive! I just love the Holiday Season.

Look of {Thanksgiving} Day: Sequins and Stripes

I'm a pretty festive person, so I get very excited about wearing holiday outfits. Clearly I knew my JCrew Sequin skirt would get a lot of use this time of year. Don't tell anyone but I actually wore it twice this weekend because I loved it SO much. One this particular day I paired it with a striped JCrew top.
Sequins are something that some see as fancy, but I could wear sequins everyday. What's not to love about them?
Actually I could wear this outfit every single day and be a pretty happy girl.

Look of the Day: Mosquito Catcher

If someone told you your outfit resembled a mosquito net, how would you feel?

On Saturday I had an engagement party to attend. And I wanted to wear anything but typical. That's why this Millau dress from LF stores made the cut. Paired with a radical pair of Sam Eldelmen Zoyla Booties (a Marshall's find) I was pretty excited about the look. Thank you Jackie for helping me put it together!

And when I gotten asked what was up with my mosquito net, I was ecstatic.
Those are the compliments I like the best -- the ones that make people question or think about what I am wearing.

LDB? Yes. Ordinary? No.

I knotted the dress to give if it some shape.
IMG_0694
It made for some cool silhouettes.

A stand out pair of shoes is always necessary.

What is your goal when getting dressed?

Movie of the Moment: Gentelmen Prefer Blondes

IMG_9993
My current old movie on replay is Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. It is a musical comedy starring Jane Russel and Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn plays Lorelei a 'dumb' blonde, with a penchant for millionaires, hence Diamonds are a Girl's best Friend. Jane Russel plays Dorthey Shaw, Lorelei's brunette best friend. Contrary to Lorelei, Dorthy is on a mission to find a man interested in her and not interested in buying her.
IMG_0004
The two head on a cruise to Paris.
Forget Sex and The City Two, this is kind of the ultimate best friend's get-a-way movie.
IMG_0010
There is scheming and songs all along the way.
IMG_0022
And many outfit and style inspirations.
IMG_0031
And no trip to Paris is complete without a shopping spree and a beret!
IMG_0050
Gentleman Prefer Blondes is very cute movie to say the least.
And if you're like me you'll love the style inspiration as much as me.

Local Love: Food Trucks, Irish Coffee and Crab

I had a pretty busy weekend. On Friday Vanessa and I took her Cousin around San Francisco to show him the sites. Then I headed to Berkley to watch my friend Cyrus' band play. Saturday I had an engagement party to attend. And on Sunday we went with Vanessa's family to Napa. I am still wading through the hundreds of pictures I took. My outfit pictures are in there somewhere!

Here are some pictures from our Friday in San Francisco.

Vanessa and I like to nibble our way through the city. And we are mildly obsessed with the food trucks -- our goal is to try every truck.
On Friday we split the tacos from Hapa Sf.
AMAZING!

Things I Love: Hook 'Em Horns

I always wanted to say that. It always sounds so fun when I see my Texas friends post Hook 'Em on Facebook. On Saturday I came home to a package of Texas goodies from my good internet friend Lindsey {of HipLip}.

I have 'known' Lindsey for about 4 years now. We first met on a fashion forum, where many things besides fashion were discussed. Now we have moved on to being Facebook and Blog friends. So when my beloved San Francisco Giants and the Texas Rangers made it to the World Series, Lindsey propositioned me with a bet: The fan of the losing Team would have to send the other person a goody bag full of treats from their local region.

Check out what Lindsey sent me!! Pretty awesome right?
I'm thinking of planning a Cowgirl party complete with a BBQ.

Perhaps we can watch some football at the party...

Look of the Day: Jazzercise

Ever have a best friend who knows you so well, they can almost predict what you are thinking? That's how Jen and I are, we are on a special wavelength. One filled with nick-names, code words and pretty much our own special language. I think our Facebook friends think we are PRETTY, pretty weird. When we shop, together or separate, we always find things that are a "Jazz piece"{usually pink, not too flowy, and maybe low cut} or a "Bambi piece" {kinda weird, not a lot of color and possible bird print}.

Yesterday my BBF Jen came over and brought me the perfect Bambi top that she found!! This adorable lace top from Target! Is it sweet? I just love random pressies! I'm so lucky to have such thoughtful friends. Jen found this on the clearance rack along with a ton of other amazing deals. Like the Rodarte for Target Lace Cardigan look alike for $6.00!! And some cute jeggings for about $10. So check out your Target sale rack, maybe you will be as lucky as Jen.

Looking back on these pictures this look reminds me of a Chloe outfit.

Flowers of the Week: Fall Out Boy

This may or may not be the last week of fall flowers in my house. I love them but the big boy bouquet will be moving in soon. Next week bring on the posinetta's, wreaths and of course Christmas trees!!
A real Christmas tree is my bigggest bouqet of the year -- and I can't wait!!

Side-note: Any Bloggers out there interested in a Blogger Secret Holiday "Santa" exchange??
If so let me know comment in this post or email me!

Look of the Day: The White Stripes

I like patterns and prints. Florals, plaids, and polka dots (that's Jen's favorite pattern). I love them all. But my favorite print is stripes, I'm a sucker for them I can't help it. I see them. And I want them. There's really nothing more to it then that.

I have a plethora of stripes in my closet. Stripes make me feel like I'm channeling Audrey Hepburn or a young Coco Chanel. I just love the Parisian and Nautical vibe they have. I'm crazy about stripes!

Since I have more then a handful of striped pieces I am always on the lookout for something slightly new and different. That's why when I stumbled across this dolman sleeved striped cardigan I knew it had to be mine.
Oh and these Deena and Ozzy boots from Urban may not leave my feet all season!

Look of the Day: Mixing High and Low End Pieces

Today I went to meeting at a local magazine to participate in a round table discussion about Style and Fashion. I was honored to be invited by the Magazine's Style editor.

It was a really nice to meet other local ladies who shared an interest in fashion and shopping just like me. We discussed fashion east of San Francisco and what makes our region distinct.

One reoccurring theme in our discussion was pairing high and low end items and remixing pieces. Both of which are popular topics on blogs. I think the outfit I wore to the meeting represented both of those points.
In this outfit I mixed a Joie Tunic with $11 h&m pants and nine west boots.

The last time I wore this Joie top was when I paired it with a red printed mini skirt and kitten heels. Its all about buying classic closet essentials and in my book that just happens to mean a leopard silk tunic -- I guarantee I will wear this thing for years to come.
