It was cold and rainy out today but I felt anything but, so I threw on this little ditty from Anthro, it just seemed to match my holiday mood perfectly. I love being a little Elf this time of year.
We elves like to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup. But wow, no other time of the year seems to fly by so fast. Funny because when I was young no other time of year went by so slow.
Although this dress doesn't get a whole lot of wear I can't seem to part with it. I always get so many compliments on it when I wear it. However, it still seems to stands out in my closet. I read many Anthropologie blogs and love the clothes, but the clothes don't always seem 'me'. So I always make sure to throw in some pieces with a little more edge when wearing Anthro pieces. Like my chunky rings and bracelets, or boots.
Now that feels a little more Amber.
The dress has a belt but I used it as a headband -- it worked perfectly!
A Plaid jacket, um yeah, gotta have one of those.
Antropologie (in the moment?) dress from last year, old Forever 21 jacket, Nine West boots, Forever 21 tights.
How do you make pieces feel more 'you'?
Yes, I think that was what it is called! I love this dress on you. You say elf, I say you look like a big ray of sunshine! Perfect for a cloudy day.

ReplyDeleteI love that dress, so cute! How creative to use the belt as a headband, I swear you are so creative.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Anthro has beautiful clothes, but they aren't always me either.
Oh that dress! I wanted it so bad! Gorgeous on you!
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way RE: Anthro. I used to buy a ton of stuff there but was constantly finding myself adding in s stud here, a chunky Frye boot there to make it more me and a tad less proper. This is a great look on you - love the mustardy-goldenrod yellow!
ReplyDeleteThis is really, really cute on you. Yellow is your color - and mixed with grey only moreso!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about Anthro - I see the stuff and love it, but when I put it on I just don't think it's very me. Inevitably I buy a couple things, and then find ways to toughen it up. So maybe mix w/denim or leather, a harder boot or studded/soft spiked jewelry.
You did great here. The boots are perfect.
xo,
c
The jacket looks perfect with it! xoxo
ReplyDeleteAmber, I love how you make Anthro you! Don't ever part w/that dress, because it's fabulous on you. I love how you thought to wear the belt as a headband - you're a genius!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about time going by fast now! I hate it!! Christmas when I was little lasted FOREVER! I try to squeeze every last drop of it out for my 2 boys now. And I love that you "hardened" up that Anthro dress with boots and a jacket. Perfection.
ReplyDeleteLovessss.

ReplyDeleteBut, you love amazing! I can see why you can't part with this dress and I certainly don't blame you!
I definitely know what you mean about Anthropologie. I love their stuff but sometimes it's a little too "cute". I think you do a great job of making it yours with the boots and the jewelry, though. I really like the tough-but-girly look, and you've got it down.
ReplyDeletewow this is so cute! love the coordinating headband :) so cute!

i throw a scarf on anything - then it's immediately ME

That is such a cute outfit!!
ReplyDeleteAmber - I completely agree, I love reading Anthro blogs, but I never seem to buy from there, not me - i am more edgier just like you - our closets are SOOO similar!!! I love the mustard, that is my fav part!

Anthro isn't really me either, but I LOVE that dress. That color of yellow is one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteI'm having a giveaway:

That jacket length is perfect for the dress.
ReplyDeleteTo make it look more like me I add a scarf or one big ring.
I"m not an Anthropologie shopper either. I actually think their clothes are beautiful, just a bit more feminine and girly than my style.
ReplyDeleteI make things more "ME" with shoes and a jacket. With this dress, i'd probably do the same thing, throw a jacket over it. I have a leather jacket that would do the trick. And, i'd pair it with an edgy bag to offset the ruffles.
Looks good! The grayish/light colored F21 coat is a smart pairing. Black would have been too harsh and 80's in contrast to that bright yellow and too matchy matchy w/ all the black on bottom.
blazers, tanks and skinnies are my style. loving scarves right now, too. :)
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is ridiculously gorgeous. Accessories always help me make a look feel more like me!
