Things I Love: When You Give Amber a Cookie...

She's going to ask for a glass of champagne.
I am home and boy am I happy. I have a new appreciation and admiration for Nurses, Doctors, people with chronic illnesses and anyone who spends or has spent time in the hospital. I am lucky my stay was short, and I was still in such great shape when I was there. However, I did learn a lot when I was there and have a new perspective on hospitals and how I want to take care of my body. I always considered myself healthy but this infection was beyond me and it was kind of hard to just realize that. I still have to rest a lot but the Doctors also want me up and active to get my lungs back working regularly since I need to build my stamina back up for Europe. Getting the okay to rest AND be active was good news for me, and made me even more perky for my arrival home.
Of course Casey had a surprise waiting for me. After tweeting the other night about how I was craving Champagne and chocolate chip cookies I arrived home to fresh baked (Pillsbury) chocolate chip cookies! Does it get any better? Well I did mention champagne, but I suppose I can wait on busting the Champagne coupes out. Casey has gone above and beyond to take care of me. As well as my Mom (who stocked my fridge for my arrival home), Dad, Step Mom Rena and my friends Mandy and Jen, all who have also done a fabulous job of making sure I was never without anyone or anything I needed. And all of your comments made my day, everyday. THANK YOU!

Just what the doctor Amber ordered.
And anything those can't fix, a little of this helps.
And lots of this.
Casey is my designated at home nurse. He has to inject my catheter with antibiotics once a day. It is pretty intense because we have to be super careful to make sure everything is sterile.
My shower gear. My catheter can't get wet so we had to make sure it stayed dry. Casey said it looked like a sleeve to a fancy dress.
Yay for family and friends, milk and cookies and home sweet home!

  3. After being in the hospital twice since august I know exactly what those pills are!!! I'm so happy you're home! Take it easy and get those lungs pumping. Easier said that done though! :)
Hope your infection goes away super fast and you're feeling better really fast.

  4. Awww, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie was my favorite book when I was little, and I was beyond dismayed that my husband had never even heard of it (then again, he's 5 years older than me). Love!

I hope you get to feeling better soon; infections on that level can be bad bad bad. REST UP! (But as someone who is always told to rest by her own doctors and hates doing it- man, I understand.)

  5. Yay glad you're home! I totally know what you mean about having a newfound perspective on taking care of yourself - even after only spending one night in the hospital that's how I felt!! I kept telling my boyfriend I wanted to do anything to not have to be back there for anything other than a doc's visit. I had visions of heart attacks or SOMEthing!

  7. I am so glad you are back home and hopefully feeling slightly better! You deserve to be indulged. I was once hospitalized for double pneumonia (in the dead heat of summer!) and spent two weeks there, so I totally commiserate. I ended up "celebrating" my 16th birthday there actually, sigh. Anyway, wishing you a continued speedy recovery!!
