Look of the Day: Home Sweet Home

As fun as going out of town is, coming home always feels amazing! I spent the day catching up on things and getting back into regular life mode, in other words I stayed home ALL day except for a quick trip down to Yogurtland because Casey made me. I also was really happy to be home and making food at home. I always get so messed up when I travel, I don't eat in the morning because I hate breakfast food and that seems to be the only thing besides coffee I can find. I also have a hard time being on a weird schedule, I mean I ate CHEETOS! I never eat Cheetos, Casey was upset I choose to eat Cheetos when he was not around to have any LOL! Anyways so I was SO happy to be home and to eat food I had purchased, prepared and planned for. And at times I like to eat =). Well my Britney encounter is still fresh in my mind so naturally when Casey dragged me out of the house I wore a fedora and cowboy boots, if I start walking out of public restrooms barefoot somebody stop me!
And YAY for real food! Remember when my oven broke and I had to wait around for the repair man?? It FINALLY got fixed today! Can you believe I went a MONTH without it working!??? Well I put it use today when I made roasted brussel sprouts and lentils. The brussel sprouts are dressed in a Dijon vinaigrette that I just threw together.Served with Ketchup, Tabasco sauce and Greek yogurt, naturally.
Casey was craving something sweet so he dragged me to Yogurtland with him. I am not big on sweets so I get mostly fruit and I put mine in the freezer and eat it over a few days lol. Casey thinks I am crazy, but it just not my thing. In this instance I would have preferred some good old cheetos!
I am already planning my next get-away, I am thinking Tahoe. I am in the mood for some snow! But SoCal again soon for sure!

  2. This made me LOL. Great post. Are you a vegetarian? You are so lucky you don't have a sweet tooth. I would be about 10 pounds lighter at least if I didn't :)
For your lovely reader, ash-I have seen some pretty cute fedoras recently in the guys section of Target.

  6. Thanks girls!

Andi- I would say I am a 90% vegetarian lol. I will eat fish (I prefer salmon and shrimp) when I eat out but I don't make it for myself. So I am pescatarian/vegetarian. I hate "eating" labels because I hate feeling like I am breaking some rule.

    Thanks pam!

ASh- I agree with Andi that target has some great fedoras, I have also seen good ones for a great price at Forever 21, Urban Outfitters and Nordstrom (in their B.P. area)

  9. LOl Coley & Lyndsey! Maybe I should indulge in them more. They were so messy though I think I was orange for awhile after haha. I'm a doritos girl if I want some junk, I'm all about those Cool Ranch Chips or Salsa verde ones lol! Ok must stop talking about this or I will crave junk!

Ash Pash- For the brussel sprouts I made a "vingrette" with some apple cider, Dijon mustard, honey mustard, sea salt, sesame seeds, and a bit of oil. I tossed the brussel sprouts in it and then roasted them at I think 400' for about 30-40 minutes. Clearly I don't measure or do things accurately, which is one reason I am a terrible baker.

For the Lentils I boiled them like the package suggests, once boiled I sauteed them with onions, tomatoes, and a red pepper. For flavor I stirred in some Dijon mustard, some bbq sauce and salt and pepper.

  14. Okay, two things. First, it is kind of weird that we both independently chose Cheetos out of all the choices. Second, I knew you ate healthy but that stuff is SUPER healthy, WOW! That's awesome - I wish I ate like that.
